1. Stay warm and drive safely out there
Since you're on your way home or home, I expect prolific postings from you.

5. Heh! Unfortunately,
we can now have meetings from the comfort of our homes. Oh, well, work is more tolerable when you're doing it in bed.

2. yeah!
Well, the only bad thing is that I don't go into work until 3pm and get off at 9pm. I have my backup route home that doesn't involve a high bridge to switch from 183 to 360. :)

3. You too tammywammy, drive safely
It will only get worse later tonight. Make sure you have a real warm coat with you and a cell phone in case you need to call in.

4. Thankfully I don't live too far from work
only about 12 miles, and it wouldn't surprise me if we close early either. (hello, who's going to be out buying a car when it's sleeting!)

Thank god for the bum warmers in my car!

7. Check out the DMN "closed" webpage..EVERYthing has shut down
And then there was the annual "how to dress warmly" on the local news this week. Cuz, ya know, some people can't remember one year to the next how to do that:crazy:
Then we will have the traditional video of people stuck up on High Five and all the other overpasses. Cuz they can't figure out that ice is to overpasses as rain is to low lying roads...A BAD thing and it means you need to find an alternative route!!!!

8. I should've left at 11:00 when I had my chance.
Got away at 1:30 and just now got home 2.5 hours later. I-20 is bad. West side of Loop 820 is worse. Don't listen to the weather guy who's telling people to slow down to 35 mph and you'll be fine. 20 is too fast right now.

9. Wow, that's quite the commute.
Yes, I'm enjoying the footage of everyone trying to get home and I'm thinking smugly, "Hey, that's NOT ME!"

until I was reminded by my better half that I forgot to stop at the grocery store on the way home.

..............Here we go again!

11. cold enough for you?
Damn it is COLD. I thought this was cold when I lived in Boston, for cryin out loud!

Fortunately this stuff doesn't hang around too long here, but if the sleet keeps going at the rate it was when I got home, the 'Plex will be totally in lockdown tomorrow.

13. you are well stocked. I have four cats, and I made soup
tonight.

Oh yeah, plenty of tea, plus all the things you mentioned. And my cable works.

that should do it.

I didn't even have to go to the store for bread and milk!

14. My electric power went out while I was watching the Daily Show
Left us without electricity or heat. Temperature outside was 25 degrees. Called Green Mountain Energy; they said power would be restored by 1 AM. Nothing to do, but go to bed and bundle up. Fortunately power came back on at 11 PM. Makes you appreciate having heat on a night like this.

15. Wow that's scary
Glad you got your power back on. If you caught the beginning of the show with the anti-Christmas rant for the benefit of Bill O'Liely, you caught the best of that show.

Hope you own lots of thermal underwear. You need a backup plan. We had the electricity go out in our neighborhood many years ago and it was down for 3 days. I was not a happy camper. I hate being cold. Luckily we have a fireplace and I pretty much lived right next to it listening to battery powered radio and reading. We now own a generator.

16. My central heat can't keep up!
Woke up this morning to find the temperature 3 degrees below my set point. That means the heat's been running non-stop all night. I hate to think about my gas bill. Oh well, more of my money will to the energy companies to give to the GOP. They need the money more than me, ya know... :sarcasm:

17. My job today got canceled. Since I'm a freelancer, no pay today.
At least the power is still on. I don't know what we'd do if it went out. Our house doesn't have a fireplace and the stove is electric.

18. BRRRRRR
the temperature is 17 with a wind chill of 2. Glad I don't have to be anywhere.

It hit our corner of the world at 11:00am yesterday. Had to work fast to provide shelter for my two goats (they are part of my extended family), and they don't like getting cold or wet.

Had to ask a neighbor if I could park in her driveway, so I wouldn't have to leave my car on the street.

Plan on making a big pot of vegetable soup, yum!

Just remember to bundle up for this Winter Blast, whether your indoors or outdoors. :grouphug:

20. Chilly again today
I went to work yesterday at 3pm and we closed a little after 6pm. The 15 minute trip it usually takes to get home, took about an hour and half.

Today, it's back to work again at 3pm.

I feel guilty, but I just ordered a bra for my car and I'm going to beg the make ready guys (well, bribe with cookies) to wash my car and put it on.

22. Horrors! My DSL internet has gone out.
But apparently my neighbors don't mind being generous, since there are EIGHT wifi connections within range of me, and three of them are unsecured. :D Their connection is faster than mine, too. They must have cable internet. :P

24. It's fixed. And it's much faster.
The tech guy found a radio filter on the line, which apparently slows down DSL. So now I have a faster connection too!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! :woohoo:

so the techie could troubleshoot your system and improve it in the long run.

:woohoo: indeed
