Is there a support group for SBC customers?
I am only half joking.... I have just spent over an hour trying to get some answers about my bill only to find that I have to PAY the bill before I can speak to a human. The bill is $475!!!!! I no longer have DSL through them and I make NO long distance calls. At the very most, the bill should be $120 (two months). I finally was able to find a way to email them about my situation, but really.... this is a communication company you can't communicate with, it is infuriating. I am still shaking with anger and I'm not thinking clearly. Any advice?

1. You can blame them
for laying off and closing so many residential customer service centers in Texas. And, blame the management in St. Louis for those decisions. They convinced some higher-up's in Texas that it would be a good thing to close these centers.

At one time, long ago, SBC told its employees the best way to keep customers as SBC customers was to give good customer service. SBC has since decided that good customer service is too expensive. If it wasn't for the Communications Workers of America, you'd be talking to someone in New Delhi when you called SBC about your local telephone service. Note that DSL customer service (tech support) is done in India. That work is non-union here in the states.

2. oh, I do blame them
for that and many many other evils. To tell the truth, at this point I'd take someone in New Delhi if I could speak to a human rather than the automated bullshit I got. ("I'm sorry I didn't understand your question, please rephrase.") I wouldn't be happy about it, but at least I MIGHT find out what is up with the obscenity that is my bill. :banghead: :nuke:

4. SBC..
... has taken the once pretty-much great Southwestern Bell and turned it into a sorry excuse for a ripoff. After having SWB service for decades with no problems, now I have trouble with SBC every time I turn around. I'm convinced they intentionally try to pad their bills. You have to watch them like a hawk.

Now, they are fixing to do the same thing to AT&T having already (via Cingular) ruined the best cell phone company ever, AT&T Wireless.

There is nothing I hate more than paying more and getting less at the same time. That's what switching from AT&T Wireless (which is being dismantled) to Cingular got me.
