Nueces County Party chief race heats up
According to GulfCoastLeftie at South Texas Chisme 'John Kelley has sent out an email announcing that he will be running for Nueces County Chair.' And 'One source says Joel Mumphord also picked up paperwork for the County Chair post.'

1. Competition is good, as long as it is a fair fight.

3. Not a thing. That was just a general statement. I'm actually happy when
the Texas Dems get people in the primaries. It makes for more news coverage and works well for us to promote interest, as long as things are done fairly.

4. I like John Kelley. I like him a lot, even. But his support of Kinky (NOT
A DEMOCRAT) for governor and his past support of city counsel candidates Joe Farah (NOT A DEMOCRAT AND -- BTW -- NOT COMPLETELY RATIONAL) and Robert Cagle (NOT A DEMOCRAT) worries me in the context of electing a local party chair.

John's a good guy, but I need some help thinking of him as a party uniter.

5. John supported Joe Farah!?!?!
I did not know that. County chair is a tough job and needs someone who's more than a sometime Democrat. We need somebody who can pull the various Democratic groups together and raise some money. I'm not sure John is the right person for the job, but so far he's the only one willing to give it a try.
