OK. I know what the SDEC members do. What do the following positions have to do during the State convention years. (not the presidential years)

Rules Committee
Nominations Committee
Platform committee
Resolutions commitee.
Senate District Delegation chair

They are elected at the SD caucus on Friday, but what do they do from then on? And once they meet on Saturday, what would they do?

Look, my SD leadership hasnt told us CRAP about what these individuals do. If you can fill me in I will write it up for the TDP handbook.

I want some of my members to run, but they need to know what to do. I am clueless right now.

1. They are part of the temporary party structure, not permanent.
So they just attend special caucuses to represent the SD on each of those committees.

Rules: Reviews possible changes to TDP rules and either votes on them or recommends that they go to a floor vote.
Nominations: This year, they will make a nomination for TDP chair and other positions which will definitely go to a floor vote.
Platform: Reviews all of the platform input from the various SD conventions and helps write the state platform. May send various planks to a floor vote.
Resolutions: Passes specific resolutions. These are like "one-of" agreements of support, the kind of thing that wouldn't go in the platform.

The SD Delegation chair ... I thought we already elected that at the SD convention?

2. SUPER...now....some more questions.
Our delegation chair is not elected till we meet at the convention. We have 3 counties and we NEVER meet together until the convention. (by design, I think)

So these guys meet at 8 on Saturday morning to meet for a few hours. It doesnt seem to be enough time to discuss anything. Is there a lot of action at these meetings? Anything they should understand before they get there besides the TDP rules?

Anything that would help a newbie?

p.s. THANKS!
