Austin DUers: Get together for GOPisEvil's b-day Saturday (6/17)

Ok y'all...the illustrious and fabulous GOPisEvil will be turning one year older this coming Saturday - 6/17 - and I figured we need to get together to mark the occasion that evening with libations and possibly cake.

We've got some options. It's kinda far north but he said if we can't find anywhere else we can party at GOPisEvil's house.

But I know a lot of you prefer a more central location. So, if someone wants to volunteer their house for a potluck or knows of a place with "booze and food that's bad for you" (GOPisEvil's own words) that doesn't have live music on Saturday nights...make suggestions. We'll have a location definitely picked by Thursday...so chime in.

I'm going to be at my parents this weekend in Dallas. Happy Birthday, GOPISEVIL!

Do you know what kind of food they have at either of those locations? And do they serve real booze...not just beer and wine?

'Murican" food like chicken fried steak but they also have excellent veggie burgers and grilled portabella burgers which are DELISH!
Sat night..freddies may have a band though..
Both have real booze and beer and wine..

and see if Freddies has a band on Saturday and let me know the answer?

and the bar closes at 12.. Have not been there on a Sat night to see how busy it gets..usually there for lunch as it is 2 blocks from my office.

My throat is still shot to hell from trying to talk over a loud bar scene last Friday and Saturday. We'll figure out something.

The party for GOPisEvil's birthday will be this Saturday, 6/17, at Guero's at 1412 South Congress. We'll be starting at 6pm for dinner and staying til we're done or we decide to go drink somewhere else. Hope to see you all there.

Oh...I emailed Garry to invite him and told him if he had contact info for any of the rest of the usual suspects to invite them too.

I just found this thread, so slow to respond. My father and niece are coming in from Mississippi tomorrow (Saturday), so I may not be able to break away. I will if I can. Hmm, come to think of it, they might like Guero's... Care to have an old man who had a stroke and sounds and looks like a drunken bum all the time, along with a cute blonde 14 year old who likes to fight with previously-mentioned old man? They are a hoot, and I'm finally old enough to not be embarrased by them!
