But as we got the last of the tarps, banners, and ice chests loaded, the sky unleashed. Rained out the Proclamation Reading and the parade as well (I'm guessing -- I headed for Houston, enjoyed that 35-mph, windshield-wipers-on-high, almost-hydroplaning drive all the way into town. Then hit the South Loop, which was flooded and snarled with traffic.
Reminded me of the evacuation of Rita.
Got home about 11 am (a drive that normally takes an hour took 2 1/2) and went to sleep from then until 3. In the evening we went to see Greg Palast at the River Oaks/KPFT fundraiser, bought his book, had it signed. That event had its usual SRO crowd, and Palast was terrific. Channel 17 will broadcast his talk Thursday night at 7 pm, I believe I heard.
