Gubernatorial Poll: HairSpray 37.7%, Bell 19.7%, Stinky 17.5%, C4n3p 14.1%
The 3.1%margin of error on this Wall Street Journal-Zogby poll is much narrower than the recent 4.5%-margin-of-error Rasmussen poll.

1. Adios MoFo has topped out
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 02:12 PM by sonias
He has no place to go but down. And mean old grandma is heading south too. I still can't understand the 17% supporting the stinker kinker. What planet do they live on?

2. Kinky has a reality TV show on CMT, "60 Minutes" ran a puff piece TWICE
covering Kinky's campaign as a feature story without investigating his lies, his flip flops, or his disastrous policies. Plus Kinky's has tons of non-issue-related press in connection with his ballot drive.

In that context, the real question isn't why Kinky is polling ahead of c4n3p; the real question is how come Kinky isn't doing better in the polls?

Can you imagine where Bell's polling numbers would be if he had the benefit of that tremendous volume of free and wholly uncritical media coverage that Kinky receives?

3. If we could get earned media like SK
It would be a dream. Heck I would venture to say that if we had equal free time, we could drown Perry in his miserable failure record. That would take real investigative journalism though, and you know that's gone the way of the DoDo bird.

Thank dog his numbers aren't better than they are. He's an idiot and frankly anyone who supports him is falling in that camp too.

9. a lot of the Kinky momentum is folks thinking a total change
(as in no seasoned politicians from any party period) is necessary. It is the same thing that propelled Jesse Ventura into the Minnesota State House several years ago.

We could end up in a runoff you know.

10. There are NO run-offs in the general election
and yeah, that kind of thinking is how Minnesota ended up with Ventura. Yipe!! Like Texas isn't already the butt of hundreds of jokes. Just what we need another punchline.

4. New Gov Poll better news than last week!
Rick Perry’s vulnerability was further emphasized today with the publication of the latest Zogby poll. Perry’s self congratulatory media blitz touting the resolution of the school finance special session apparently hasn’t fooled the voters of Texas, the guv is still languishing in the mid 30s. I for one am tired of hearing glorious praise for non-existent tax breaks when education and health care suffer, and the poll confirms I am not alone. Chris Bell has focused his campaign on quality public education and health care for children, not tax cuts that benefit large corporations and the rich. And as long as Perry continues to represent no one but his inner circle, his popularity – and prospects for reelection – will continue to sink like a rock.

Here are the numbers. Everyone knows Rick and Carole, but 2/3 wont vote for him and almost no one will vote for her. What about Chris Bell? Right now, only 4 out of 10 Texans know him, yet 2 out of 10 will support him. So what will happen when Chris makes his case en masse? You do the math:

Perry: 37.7% (+1.4 since March/down 0.6% since January)
Bell: 19.7% (-1/+1.8)
Kinky: 17.5% (+0.8/+3.1)
Strayhorn: 14.1% (-4.9/-6.4)

What Mark Warner is doing in Virginia should make every Democrat proud. Check out his new PAC, and while you’re at it, vote for your favorite candidates (like Chris Bell) in this exciting rendition of political March Madness!

6. Welcome to DU BELLrevolution!
Chris is going to make the top 5 MapChangers for sure! He got part of my vote with the Straight Texan Ticket vote.

You are right that Bell is doing better and Perry certainly has hit a ceiling. What I would love to see is Kinky disappear.

8. Now we need to go to MapChangers and vote for John Courage
Chris has asked us to be unified in our vote and to vote Courage. If Courage wins, the first $15K will go towards online tools that Glen Maxey is developing for the Texas Coordinated Campaign.

This will be a win for all of our TX candidates.

Go here: http://www.forwardtogetherpac.com/mapchangers

And, vote for John Courage!

(and vote often! with all of your email addresses! It will take that to win.)

 :nuke:

Edited to add: That reminds me, I need to go get me a Chris Bell bumper sticker, since I live all of about five blocks from the Dem Headquarters and I haven't seen a single Bell sticker. IN AUSTIN. For Christsakes.

13. He really doesn't - it's all about him
And selling more books and making more money for himself. Why doesn't he buy some marketing that doesn't include being a spoiler in a political race. Ah because the lazy ass media is willing to give him all this free publicity.
