Has the Statesman ever apologized for endorsing Bush in 2004?
I cancelled my subscription then but I do go to the online site only because I know of no other source of up-to-the-minute local news that consists of more than headlines, such as I find on the TV news sites. But I still feel guilty being counted among the Statesman's online subscribers, even though they aren't getting a penny out of me (directly.)
I dropped my subscription then too and no amount of free papers they throw on my lawn will bring me back. I don't feel one bit guilty about reading them on-line. In fact I hope they see I only read, LTTE and political stories. Maybe they can get a clue.
Keep in mind that the editors of the AAS endorsed bush twice. So hold them responsible for being part of the lazy media. We don't call them the RealEstatesman for nothing. The paper will do anything (endorse anyone) who they feel helps improve their bottom line.
4. I didn't feel guilty until they started this latest campaign
of how some people "get it." Then I realized that they make money off of their online advertising just as they do from the print edition and I'm being counted as an online subscriber.
Oh, well.
Yes, I was furious when they endorsed Bush in 2000 but it is unforgivable that they endorsed him again. It will take a complete turnover in management before I'll ever subscribe again. Too bad the Chronicle isn't a daily. I don't even make it into town enough to pick it up once a week. I tried subscribing but I don't think they really want to mail it. I never got a response.
