How many states should Texas be ?
Divide and conquer...why not ?
If Texas just split North Texas and South Texas. The South could easily be carried by Democrats. Draw the line just north of Austin. The North could keep Midland,Odessa,Amarillo,Lubbock,D-FW Megalopolis,Tyler, and Longview.
The South would have El Paso,Austin,San Antonio,Corpus Christi,Brownsville and Houston.

2. That reminds me of something I heard about Alaska
Back when Alaska was being considered for statehood, apparently Texans (way back before my time!) were upset about losing "largest state" bragging rights and becoming the 2nd largest state. The Alaskans said, "Well we could cut Alaska in half and let you be the 3rd largest state." That shut up the Texans real quick.

3. My dad's classic retort to that
"Sure Alaska is the largest state, but wait til it melts."

(this was waaay before global warming made this a possibility.)

5. Texas should be 2 states: Texas (where we live) & Virginia (where our GOP
elected officials like KBH and DeLay live).

6. Give them an island
I think Tom DeLay and KBH should move to an island and start their own country. They could be rulers of their own country. I sure wish we could make them go for that. And no Tom, The Marianas are off limits. You have to pick an uninhabited island.

7. How about Devil's Island?
I'm sure they'd feel right at home there. And, as Tom DeLay's minion has recently pointed out, he is French.

8. Split, hell - In fact, I'm thinking "expansion plan"
Hell, let's negotiate with OK, NM, and CO to buy back that land we sold them a long time ago. The Panhandle shall return!
