Question on Rules change in the Texas democratic Party.
Precinct chairs and elected positions in the party cannot endorse or support a non Democrat in any partisan race.

Elected officials are exempt. I would like to see this changed in the TDP rules.

If an elected official endorses or supports a non democrat, then they give up their honorary positions such as being a delegate to any conventions, etc.

Any comments? Ideas if this is a good idea?

2. It is a great idea
And it should be extended to cover those who donate to Rs or vote in the R primary.

5. Right on!
Write that bad boy up in the form of a resolution and I'll be sure to take it to my precinct convention. I'll try to get on Rules at the Senate convention this year if you like. SD-16 sends up a lot of stuff through Rules that they manage to get adopted, so it would be good to get the heavyweights in my SD behind this.

8. Isn't that already in the rulebooks?
I'm sorry I don't have the rules in front of me, but I think that has already been implemented. Or maybe it's just in the DCDP. I'll check.

9. I think it's pretty staight up ...
If you vote in the Democrat Party Primaries and then are
active in any way in supporting another party or even an
independant, no matter who you are, your credentials can be
challenged at any of the three state level conventions. For
that matter I would bet that any person, honorary or official,
can be challenged all the way to the national convention.

11. I'm all with this rule, and support your
idea about elected officials, John. Also like the idea of county convention resolutions, so if you're amenable---pass around any proposal so we can all use it. But that's not why I'm posting.

I gotta tell ya'll about the BIGGEST SET OF COJONES I have ever known. I posted a while back about five of my county elected officials turning coat this filing cycle. Well, we finally got GOOD candidates to oppose three of them and the DA was challenged by the current Repub County Attny (who can buy the seat). This jerkwad DA had one of his patsies call me up last night and ask if I would support him against his challenger. The ever-lovin' gall of this asshole!

I tried to be as civil as possible as I told him about the rule, but I fear I let my feelings show when I said something about hell freezing over. You think?

13. LOL, thanks for the update.
Honestly, what are some people THINKING. We got rid of our county chair not three years ago based on her letter of endorsement of a Republican judicial appointment (not an election, just an appointment.)

12. I can get this passed in SD11.
Heck even a petition on the floor if we had 32 people working it would be doable.

But...Let me think about it.
