Houston DU Meetup Weds. 1/19, 7 pm
Come join us!

We'll be at Berryhill's in the Galleria (probably rotating to another location next month just to see if we can draw some new attendees, and I'm open to suggestion for locations). I usually have a DU bumper sticker semi-prominently displayed, and if we're lucky the front room will be available for us. It's a mostly enclosed semi-private dining area; last month it was occupied with a private party so we were in the main room, which is really too noisy for conversation among a table of 8-9 people, our attendance last month).

Berryhill Baja Grill
1717 Post Oak Blvd (east side of street, near intersection of Post Oak and San Felipe)
Houston, TX 77056
713-871-8226

1. I'm leaving for Nawlins on the 19th, or I'd be there!
But next month, I'll be there with bells on!:-)

2. Since we may be light this month...
...does anyone like the idea of meeting up Thursday the 20th, downtown for the "Inaugurate Yourself" activities?

5. I can't make it
on Thursdays, but I agree, with Lisa and Lyn both gone, it is light this month.

I'm fine with canceling this month or maybe even getting together Sat or Sun for beignets or something to get Lisa and Lyn's feedback. Crescent City has a place across from Lamar High School and one on Bellaire, just off of 610. I love the hot yeasty beignets sans the sugar.

6. This is a great idea, Mare!
Lisa, Lyn, Chicano, all you others:

How about Saturday afternoon the 22nd, 2 pm, Crescent City Beignets on Bellaire Blvd. (5115 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, Texas 77401)?

Here's a map:

(say yes and I'll go change it at Meetup.com)

9. I think Jim will go.................
he's a sucker for beignets. Do you want us to pick you up?

If this ends up being a go, I think I'll see if Steve and Emily would like to come. I guess we aren't doing a fourth Friday this month, so they may be looking for something political for the weekend.

10. I hope it's a go!
No need for you to come all the way up here, I can drive down and we can ride together from your house if you have room.

11. ALL the way up there? LOL
It's part of my normal run around the neighborhood, but if you want to come and leave your car here, that's fine.

Gee, I wonder if your predecessor at WHDC would like to come. You'd really like Kris. She's a real spitfire as you probably have guessed.

She wouldn't be coming with us. She lives up in Spring Branch. I'll e-mail or call her when we have the specifics down.

Remember, I am not online at home. I had Friday off, so I didn't get this message until today.

16. Hi PDittie,
I am new (as of election time) to DU. We live in west
Houston (my fam is generations of Texans)
and I was wondering why isn't there something
going on here...besides the meetup (which I just saw last night...sigh)

Houston is in trouble and even my husband is taking vacation
on Thursday and I am going to be with him. We are both in ill health,
btw.

We need bodies...or "boots on the ground" if you will.
I remember the anti-WAR marches etc were fun, but they were here.

Does Louisiana need you guys more than Houston, or are you
just going to have fun? You can make it fun here too 'ya know.

Whatever you decide...be careful.

As for the Wed. meetup if I were to go I could not physically make
it on Thursday.

"We live and breath and play the blues around here"
I would rather be sitting, watching Buddy Guy
(Chicago most of Jan.) play and sing...

but this seems so important.

18. I just thought the Jazz Funeral sounded like a great idea, and
New Orleans is one of my favorite places.

A belated "welcome to DU!"

Anti-inagural
by Karl Humphrey Sunday January 16, 2005 at 10:13 PM
Cyberson@51capitalmarch.com

Press release For 51capitalmarch.com

January 13 2005. Houston, Texas: www.51capitalmarch.com, a Houston-based web site dedicated to eliminating election fraud announced Thursday a lunchtime protest in the park behind City Hall in Houston from 11AM to 1:00PM on Thursday, January 20th. The stated purpose of the event is to protest election fraud that occurred during the November 2nd election in conjunction with similar anti-inaugural activities in other cities around the country. Citing their rallying cry of "Make a Sign and Show Up" used to good effect for the recent March On Washington on January 6th and protests at 41 State Capitols last December 12th, 51 Capital March urges Houston citizens to stand up and voice their objections to our stolen elections and to the loss of our democracy. Other upcomming events, and details availble at www.51capitalmarch.com

www.51capitalmarch.com

---------------There is a break down in communication.
My husband could just take a long lunch for this.
Don't know what I would do, though. Have trouble with driving around Houston now.
Good grief.

I want to "fall in love and then fall in line"
but where is the freakin' line?
