I got a temporary reprieve on my exile...
I'm splitting the week between Austin and SA. On the trip home from Nacogdoches, it seemed that every other pickup had the laser cut cowboy-praying-in-the-shadow-of-the-cross decal in the back window. It was all I could do to suppress the screams. Then in Bastrop, I saw a Corolla with a red "W" covered by a circle-and-slash decal. God, it's good to be home.

Monday I go back into exile. Wanna bet it's raining in Nacogdoches?

1. What are you doing in Nacogdoches?
Working or going to Stephen F. Austin Univ?

Naaa, it won't rain on Monday. Everyone knows that it only rains in East Texas on the weekends!

2. Staying with my brother
while recovering from a serious back injury. Or not recovering, as the case may be.

Ah well...

3. east Texas
Scary!

There's only one thing to do about East Texas--get more progressive people to move there, enough to create a tipping point of change. It's absolutely beautiful land. If you have a fighting spirit and like gorgeous scenery, there's plenty to fight and plenty to see in East Texas!

4. Exactly!
That's what I tell people about Rockwall too. Get more of your friends to move here! Tell them how great it is to live by the lake! Tell them we have Starbucks now! Do whatever you can do to increase our numbers!

When I started going to our Rockwall County Dem meetings last year there were 15 or 20 people there. The last one we had, I counted around 65 or 70.

It's working!
