Statement from Scott Walker: Marriage is to be Between One
Man and One Woman

Many years ago, I concluded that we must change the Wisconsin State Constitution to say that marriage is to be between one man and one woman. My belief in this position is even stronger today.

The Wisconsin State Legislature is currently deliberating this issue, and I strongly urge them to pass the constitutional amendment defining a marriage as a commitment between one man and one woman. Then, it will be up to the voters to say what defines a marriage in Wisconsin.

Amending our constitution requires the legislature to consider the change twice, and most importantly requires a vote of the people of Wisconsin. Constitutional amendments are not to be taken lightly and they require serious contemplation and discussion.

Current law in Wisconsin already defines marriage as between a husband and a wife. Because the courts in other states have broaden the definition of marriage, the constitutional amendment makes it clear that the only marriages recognized in Wisconsin are between one man and one woman.

State law in Wisconsin also prohibits marriage if either person has a living husband or wife or if the people attempting to get married are related or if either party is under a particular age. In other words, state law already regulates who can and who cannot get married in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin’s values are my values, and I look forward to leading our great state in the right direction.

The very same polls I see where Wisconsites back DOMA also indicate they back civil unions for homosexuals.

I look forward to leading our great state in the right direction.
Man, I hate this fucker. :puke:

I don't wish to demean those of you in Milwaukee County, but hasn't the Milwaukee County Executive position become one of the most overrated political offices around? This guy thinks he's bigger than what he really is.

2. Playing at a church near you
WATERLOO - The children trooped out of the sanctuary at Cornerstone Church on Sunday, and the rest of the congregation watched a video about men marrying men and women marrying women.

The projected DVD images flickering on the sanctuary wall were the work of a conservative group, the Family Research Institute of Wisconsin, that wants to write a prohibition against same-sex marriages and civil unions into the state's constitution.

"Marriage, as defined as between one man and one woman - and by the way that's the way God defines marriage - is under attack in the state of Wisconsin," senior pastor Keith Doyle said introducing the video. "This is not a political issue. This is a moral issue."

The Family Research Institute hopes the same video and scene will play out in hundreds or more Wisconsin churches in the coming months, energizing evangelicals to push the amendment through the Legislature and on to a popular referendum victory in November. With a state Senate judiciary committee vote on the proposed amendment due today, the measure is expected to go before the full Senate for a vote as early as Tuesday.

So gay marriage is going to ruin us. Meanwhile, a new concealed-carry law won't?? This is SO backwards!
