Ziegler gets off with a slap on the wrist!

MADISON — The Wisconsin Supreme Court disciplined a sitting justice for the first time today, publicly reprimanding Justice Annette Ziegler for violating judicial ethics.

The court, in an unsigned opinion, gave Ziegler the lightest punishment possible. Her colleagues could have suspended or removed her from the bench, although that was considered unlikely.

“I appreciate that this matter is now concluded,” Ziegler said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Wisconsin.”

While the court said the punishment was appropriate, it chided Ziegler for actions it said diminished public confidence in the legal system.

I guess absolute judicial integrity isn't as important as it used to be.
