Note from Jef Hall
Edited on Fri May-07-04 11:24 PM by MessiahRp
Hello Democrats!

I just wanted to send the group a quick email, there will be more to come, announcing officially my candidacy for Congress in Wisconsin's 6th District.

The papers are filed, the accounts are getting set up, and the work is ongoing.

We have given the 6th District a pass too many times. Tom Petri is not invulnerable. We need to provide the voters with a clear choice for their representation. This year, we will win or lose at every level based on our ability to educate the voter on how they can and will direct the course of America. It is no less important than that.

A few facts that I would like to get out about Petri & myself.

Petri owns many millions of Dollars in Walgreen's stock, and co-incidently was one of the House's leading proponents of the Medicare Drug "Benefit" (Walgreen's, in their 2003 report said they expect to add 75-100 million new perscriptions due to this). I have a good healthcare plan provided by my employer, but my keeping it is based on my continued employment, my Dad lost his along with his job recently.

Petri has rarely seen a tax-cut he didn't like, including Bush's recent give-aways to the wealthy. He saved, perhaps, more than the median income of his district. My tax cut, offset by the increase in fees made neccesary by Petri's big savings, was almost $0.

Petri is a member of Lloyd's of London where, on their website, you can see documentation of bids over $100,000 under the name Petri. I am a member of Capital Credit Union, where I owe $5,000 on a 2000 Saturn.

Who, I ask you is going to work harder for the people of the 6th? Who truly understands the daily stuggles of keepng yourself and those close to you employed, sheltered, healthy and perhaps joyful?

I ask you for your support in my bid. Remember, no-one in history ever cheered for Goliath - please cheer for me.

Thank you,

-jef-

p.s. Below is my contact info, please get in touch with for any advice, events that I can attend or any reason. I look forward to getting to know everyone. I am hoping to meet as many people as possible, to not only educate on our stands on today's issues, but more importantly to learn what your concerns are, and how we can work on those for the benefit of all. .

p.p.s. Another difference between Petri and I. He has over $920,000 in campaign funds, and well... let's just say I have less. Any contributions will be very appreciated and frugally invested in this effort when sent to:

2. Go Jef!!
I'll be casting my vote for anyone other than Petri. However, I've checked out Jef's website and if he intends to be a serious candidate, he needs to get his website updated. It doesn't take much to write position statements and put together a decent resume. If he can't even do that much, frankly I don't have a lot of faith.

3. I'm excited about Jef's campaign.
This little letter made me feel a lot better about it. I e-mailed him a good luck note earlier in the week. We all should do the same, along with a little $$$.

...and the big site banner is an eye sore.

4. Best Wishes Jef
I, for one, agree with you. Petri is NOT UNBEATABLE!

Organize, organize, organize. There is nothing more efficient or productive in a campaign that a large grass-roots base.
