We'll be lucky to get through this winter election without another serious injury to a candidate -- or worse. So many of the candidates in rural or remote ridings have to travel extensively, by plane or car, in horrendous weather conditions. And when one considers the campaign workers as well .... icy sidewalks, hypothermia ...
A lot of people helping out with the campaigns -- and the Elections Canada staff too -- are getting up there in years. Our riding is lucky and has mild west-coast conditions, but I really worry about people slipping and falling during literature distribution (it can be dangerous enough going up and down hundreds of stairs during the rest of the year, and I'm still young).
I am working for the NDP this time around, but wish Mr. Zeisman and his team all the best. It could have been any of us. I guess there's no way of postponing the voting in that particular riding, until he's feeling better? It would be unfortunate if the pressures of the campaign interfered with his recovery.
