He told how religion helped him during difficult periods as prime minister, saying: "The worst thing in politics is when you're so scared of losing support that you don't do what you think is the right thing.

"What faith can do is not tell you what is right but give you the strength to do it."


So you make your mind up using the same flawed process as everyone else - but rather than being cautious after that, because of the fallible way you got there, faith enables you to say "I know I'm right!", and blunder into another disaster, even though the faith didn't help you arrive at the decision. He uses his faith as a way to maintain his self-delusion. :banghead:

4. I find this odd
"The former prime minister, a committed Anglican since his days as a student at Oxford in the 1970s, converted to Catholicism after his departure from No 10 last year" given that particular faith's hard line on suicide.
