Misleading Indeed....MoveOn at Democracy's Peril.
Just got this email from Misleader.org, who used to send out daily info about misleading statements and acts of the * administration.

Here they are themselves guilty of being misleading, as they don't mention that election fraud was the number one concern of MoveOn members.

This is getting so weird--how could they be saying this with the hearing today, Kerry's letter, etc.? Is it deliberate misinformation? Or are they too just that much out of touch?

Misleader.org--It's Time to Move On

We could go on filling your in-box every day... documenting the mis-leadership, the half truths and the outright lies.

But for now, MoveOn will be consolidating its campaigns and content at our main site, and focusing on the development of strategic message initiatives and a positive vision for progressives. We'll work on the top issues MoveOn members have identified - media reform, election reform, and the war in Iraq - as well as all of the other issues, from the environment to the Supreme Court that you care about.

Your support in challenging the failed leadership of a powerful incumbent raised public consciousness at a critical time during the 2004 election; and we trust it has woken up a press corps to its responsibility to do more than parrot the White House talking points.

For now though, we recommend that interested Bush-watchers check out great sites such as these for their daily dosages of Dubya deceptions:

Center for American Progress's Daily Progress Report (http://daily.misleader.org/ctt.asp?u=1154018&l=71071)
Campaign for America's Future (http://daily.misleader.org/ctt.asp?u=1154018&l=71072)
Media Matters (http://daily.misleader.org/ctt.asp?u=1154018&l=71073)
Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo (http://daily.misleader.org/ctt.asp?u=1154018&l=71074)
Air America Radio (http://daily.misleader.org/ctt.asp?u=1154018&l=71075 live from the website)
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (http://daily.misleader.org/ctt.asp?u=1154018&l=71076)

Together, we'll fight the first big "mislead" of the new Bush presidency - that this election, with the smallest margin of victory for an incumbent since Woodrow Wilson in 1916, is NOT a mandate for anything other than a bolder role for progressives in the political life of our country.

Unless you unsubscribe below, we will also subscribe you to MoveOn's main list and media watcher network. In other words, you'll be hearing from us soon.

1. We're starting to eat our young ...
First Michael Moore is being turned into a "liability" (according to so-called "liberal" Peter Beinart) and now MoveOn is ready to ... move on. If the Democratic Party responds to the attack from the RWNJs by moving to the right, they are as much as admitting that they're LOSING THE FIGHT! We need to stand our ground against these extremist zealots, not allow them to influence us to our detriment. If the Democratic Party moves more in the direction of the DLC, I'm afraid it's time for this Democrat to change my party affiliation to Green.

2. I'm with you...
proggressive/radical until the end...I'm not gonna become a Christian zealot ignorant idiot just because the "mainstream" feels that way.

Maybe we should invite more wars...and ask for the right-wingers to be sent first...thin the herd.

4. Meanwhile, back at the reality ranch...
If the Dem leaders move any farther "right" (recall that we passed Center awhile back) we'll be Fascists.

Let's form our own Dem leadership party from DU members.

5. No Retreat, No surrender!! REALLY!!!!

"As cognitive psychologist George Lakoff told me: "Democrats moving to the middle is a double disaster that alienates the party's progressive base while simultaneously sending a message to swing voters that the other side is where the good ideas are." It unconsciously locks in the notion that the other side's positions are worth moving toward, while your side's positions are the ones to move away from. Plus every time you move to the center, the right just moves further to the right."

6. I think you misunderstand.
This email is saying that they're going to stop emailing you the daily lies from Bush. They refer you to good websites for the latest outrages. In other words, the "Daily Mislead" function is going away, and you'll be subscribed to MoveOn's main list.

Pertinent quotes:
"this election...is NOT a mandate"
"the top issues MoveOn members have identified - media reform, election reform..."

They don't have to say election fraud is #1 issue. That's not the point of this email.

7. Move On is a Total Disappointment
They probably have the largest data base of Progressive People which could EASILY be used to Establish regional based groups to engage in local Progressive actions- I have sent them personnal E-mails
and this was a topic on their nation-wide after election meeting- but they are doing NOTHING on this- it is disgraceful- I think that it is some kind of Ego/ Control issue
For instance, Ojai Person, if it wasn't for your name, I wouldn't
know that you live in my general area, Oxnard for me.
