Given that I'm a scientist and know zilch about 'the law' and know nothing about Mr Bonifaz, Arnebeck et al. strategy in this matter, my gut tells me that it was not an accident that they filed when they did and that their focus is laser-like directed at 6 Jan 2005.
We must get all our fellow citizens focused on 6 Jan 2005 -- the dropdead day for saving our franchise of democracy.
I've been thinking for days about one thing that might best serve to get the nation focused on the fact that we are living the final moments of the American franchise of democracy. To get folk to realize that if we don't halt the process, now, it will be lethal to our Constitution and all that it protects.
And, crazy as it may seem, I suddenly thought of "Oprah."
What if we could get everyone on DU and elsewhere contacting Oprah in the next 24 h and beg, plead with her to invite Mr. Bonifaz, Arnebeck and Curtis, and, perhaps Congressman Conyers, onto her show and have them explain to the Nation what has happened.
Have them explain (and show video clips, etc) that many of our fellow citizens were systematically prevented from voting and none of us have a reasonable basis for concluding that our vote was counted as we intended (and, in fact, ~ 30 % of the votes have no mechanism for verification that they were even recorded correctly by the device the voter used).
I do not watch tv, but I do know that if any show on mainstream tv/cable is likely to have the broad impact potential that we need, NOW, for our message, it's Oprah's show.
We all know we need this message broadcast, bigtime. We need a platform and Oprah's got one of the biggest. If folk think this is worthy then maybe everyone can contact the DU management tean and ask that a "Call To Oprah" action alert be posted on the mainpage.
Peace.
