LET'S START BUYING BLUE
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 12:47 PM by mary195149
Pass this to everyone you know who thinks blue. There is nothing that can make an impact than someone's pocketbook. Let us be heard loud & clear to the "red states".

Is that they are all over Holland. I'll look into them - I think they are a Dutch owned store.

7. Go compare the prices
The average Walmart prices are lower when they first open. They use other stores' profits to subsidize their losing costs when they open so they can drive others out of business, and get loyal customers. But surveys have shown that once they are in business comfortably in an area, their prices are actually higher than their competition.

11. Everybody forgives you, Faye...
If the country had a better economy, a better plan for college tuition, an adequate social safety net...oh wait I digress!

Consider a membership to Costco or Priceclub. They are big Dem supporters, and for certain items buying in bulk is really the way to go.

9. I've been buying Blue.
I thought it would be difficult with Christmas but I've done extremely well. I bought about 50% of my gifts at Barnes and Noble (books, CDs and DVDs) which is a 98% blue company compared to Amazon (69% red). I bought some colognes and aftershaves by blue companies like Liz Claiborne, Aramis, and Calvin Klein. A lot of the CDs I bought were by artists, like Springsteen, REM, Pearl Jam and Jackson Browne, who supported us this year.

Two people asked for Home Depot gift certificates and I asked them if Lowes would be ok instead and they said it would so that's $100.00 that a red company lost out to a blue. So far, I've only bought two small gifts from a red company.

13. Yep. I spent half my holiday budget at Barnes & Noble.

It has two benefits:

It financially supports a Blue company
It gets the people I love into a progressive atmosphere and READING!

19. pamela: Thanks for the Lowe's post. I had seen Home Depot
listed on the red column, but didn't know about Lowe's. Those are my two choices where I live.

23. You're welcome.
I should clarify that Lowes is only slighly "blue" in that they gave more to Dems, but only by about 3 percentage points. They are still better than Home Depot, though.

27. So is Lowe's Officially Blue?
Not many other choices left around my neck of the woods. Lowe's or HD.

Most of the Mom & Pop lumberyards and hardware stores are gone.

28. Not officially, just my research.
I'm trying to find the link to the data but I remember that it was something like 48% red to 51% blue. There was a post about them in the Economic Activists Group forum that said they don't give very much money to any political party. Considering the fact that Home Depot gives a lot of money and mostly to Repubs, I think Lowe's is a viable alternative when you have to use one of the big chain hardware stores. Not perfect, but better.

30. Forget that. How about we BUY AMERICAN
I live in Ann Arbor, 80 percent Democrat.
And half the town drives Audis, Hondas, Volkswagons, Volvos.

I can't stand these kinds of Democrats.

By American, freaks.
Keep your countrymen at work. Support your community with more tax revenues that come when people are working,
Don't worry about what your fellow Yuppies think.

Sell off your imports and buy an American car.

Unless you're driving a hybrid, you've really can't call yourself progressive/liberal/whatever and drive an import.
