CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR: What Counts in Ohio Recount
The Christian Science Monitor

<snip>
Tellingly, the recount challenge doesn't come from the Democratic Party, but from the Green and Libertarian parties, which don't stand a chance of winning Ohio even if Bush actually lost the state.
</snip>

<snip>
That's not to say that long lines and touch-screen voting machines that didn't produce a paper trail (as in Ohio) aren't problems that need fixing. American elections must be an example for other nations. Giving Ohio's vote count a clean bill of health would help that cause.

FEDERAL STANDARDS NEEDED TO REDUCE VOTER FRAUD, WEEK OF DECEMBER 16-22, 2004

“There is ineptness in the system and a unified system is one approach, but there are other issues,” he said. “When voter fraud occurs, it doesn’t just defraud those running for office; it affects everyone from having fair, elected representation. Even with unified systems you have to have trained poll workers that know what the law is and implement that law in a way that is most helpful.”

According the Shelton, the current voting process has to be fundamentally changed.

Im glad its press but I think this part is not good at all.
What should we say to them? Thats what Blackwell said..do people buy that?:shrug:

http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/1220/p08s02-comv.html
"For widespread vote fraud to have occurred in Ohio, the major parties would have had to conspire together. Each of the state's counties has a bipartisan election board made up of two Republicans and two Democrats with authority over polling places and machines used. That's a pretty strong rebuke to those who allege voter fraud on a scale that would've given the state to Sen. John Kerry."

3. Because you like many others think this is a single front...
battle...

Look you learn something quickly most of the time it fades away... Do you want this to fade? No..

So you present your case over weeks and days, pieces at a time...

There are 40 people on the lawsuit in Ohio, we have seen evidence of a dozen specific types of fraud. There is much more to hear.

4.  I do not think its a single front
I am grateful for any press ......
I here what your saying about keeping it out there.

I just think that when they say
"For widespread vote fraud to have occurred in Ohio, the major parties would have had to conspire together

hurts the cause...it just keeps that tin hat stuff going
Thats all i am saying.....It seems there just quoting Blackwell and have not invested enough time in researching the facts.

I appreciate that you posted some news...Thank you.

5. I wish they didn't buy this but I think they do...
it's obvious that if the fraud resides in the black box: whether tabulator or touchscreen the election officials aren't likely to know it's even there. That is our problem and that is why we need to see the gd code.

6. "Giving Ohio's vote count a clean bill of health would help that cause."??

Erroneously giving a sick patient a clean bill of health would help the fight against disease?

I know that's not what they mean, but the sentence struck me as weird.
