3. Yep...
Assigned to: Edmund A Sargus
Referred to: Terence P Kemp

I don't know what "assigned" means, vs. ""referred".

Know anything about these judges?

10. Actually, I like the look of Kemp...

"Ethics and Political Philosophy from Brown University in 1974"

This isn't bad - looking at the different judges in that particular court, his background and education indicate a more moderate thinker -some of these judges were appointed by Republican Presidents, one by Bush senior. Last night when I was looking over the profiles, I thought to myself that I hoped it would be Kemp.

I feared, however, it would be Beckwith, the Bush appointee.

I have a better feeling about Kemp than I did the others. And, although this is hardly rocket science, I like his picture, he's a big grinning bearded jolly guy. Doesn't look as dour and conservative as some of the others.

I hope I'm not wrong.

11. Sargus looks ok too...
"He also served as a Director of the Ohio Citizens Committee for the Arts and the Ohio Environmental Council."

Committee for the Arts, Environmental council = More liberal.

Also, his picture shows a smiling, skinny guy with sort of shaggy hair...he looks like he's pretty nice. That would RULE!!!

Look at some of the others and see what I mean!

14. I don't either... (Any law savvy out there?)
Maybe one person was originally assigned the case, and for whatever reason, he gave it to the other Judge? Who knows?

18. OK, so another question.
Anybody have a clue how long one might expect a ruling to take? Days? Weeks?

19. That's a good question...
But I don't know. :-(

Maybe you could post a thread asking if there are any attorneys or paralegals in the house. William Pitt is also a storehouse of useful information.

17. One is a judge
and the other a magistrate judge.

I don't know what the difference is but I would guess one is higher than the other?

21. A magistrate judge
Is a trial judge appointed by a life-tenured District Court judges. They serve either 8 yr or 4 yr terms, and handle certain types of cases, sometimes by consent of the parties.

You'll also find the term "magistrate judge" used to refer to someone who issues an official warrant, although that person may not be a real judge, but rather an officer or person who has been given the authority to issue warrants.
