What's your plan of action
or coping mechanism going to be in the event that our party lets us down on Jan. 6? What if no Senator has the balls/ovaries to contest? Not to be negative, but I am trying to think of ways to cope with *the possibility* of MASSIVE disappointment in our elected leaders. I want to be prepared. Any ideas?

1. I will hang around, keep working and see what happens.
If it looks like all hope is lost after a year or longer, I WILL consider moving away.

6. Revolution, maybe.
If we have the guts to do it. I'm talking peaceful resistance, maybe an all-out sit down strike in Washington D.C. We'll have to spell each other.

20. Something definitely needs to be done, I agree..
These neo-cons are taking over everything! And by illegal means to boot. I don't want to see our Democracy become a dictatorship -
any more than it already has!

5. I am assuming nothing will happen.
They have let us down every other time; why should this be any different? I don't mean to be a party-pooper, but I get tired of being Charlie Brown while Lucy pulls the football away again. I won't be disappointed because I don't expect anything from those limp-dick losers. If they actually do act, however, I will be both astonished and delighted.

11. But if they don't...
will you still support the party? How will you cope? Because I feel like I will be pretty lost and bitter for a while. If Shrub won fair and square, though it would suck, I have enough respect for Democracy that I would at least accept/tolerate the fact that it was the will of the people.

However, knowing it likely WAS NOT, if our team throws in the towel, man...I will be pretty steamed.

Wait and see, I guess. If the Dems fold up, like I expect them to, they will hear from me. I can only hope that we collectively tear them a new one so they understand that they won't get our contributions or our votes. My congresscritters most certainly will get an earful from me if they drop the ball this time. And then... I might start to hope the party totally crashes and burns so it can be resurrected under new management.

as much as i love John Kerry, and definately consider myself 'liberal', i don't necessarily consider myself a Democrat - at least i don't think so, i mean i don't follow everything that goes on in the Democratic party like a lot of people here do. I will only be disapointed in general and it will confirm to me the reasons why I don't affiliate with one specific party. I will simply find and/or vote for other leaders who do have the balls to stand up for our rights.

13. Good answer!
I used to be registered non-party, but since this election was so very important, and I wanted to show solidarity with the party opposing Bush, and I DO like Kerry, I changed my registration to Democrat - plus, I want to vote in the Democratic primaries.

If this all turns out to be a huge disappointment on Jan 6 - I will probably switch back.

10. If that happens, I plan to keep writing and faxing Senators and the media.
We will keep talking about it. No matter how long it takes, we won't accept it. Living in a country under a false pretense is unacceptable.

A lot of change would have needed to happen even if this election wasn't stolen. This just brings it all out into the open, gives all corruption a much sharper focus, and gives us a chance to change things from the ground up. It may take years though. Our children may be the ones to see integrity return to the halls of government. And we will have been partly responsible for it, if we keep working at it.

It's work, it's hard work. And no hard work is over soon.

12. I have a bet with user "Tacos Al Carbon" that Byrd stands up. If not
I have to switch my avatar to a 49er's logo for 30 days. I'm going to be one pissed off DUer. If Byrd does stand up, she will adopt the avatar of America's Team, The f'ing Oakland Raiders for a similar period.

Seriously, I don't want to think about it. I plan to be at the march from Lafayette Park to Capitol Hill and then the rally. I'll probably scream some obscenity at first then who knows what. Or, another epithet might be, "Thanks for nothing assholes!!!" Jesse Jackson is the main speaker (along with Cobb) so maybe I should keep it clean since he's a reverend and all. "Dag nabbit! You guys let me down. I'm not mad, I'm just a little disappointed." Bo hoo!!!

17. Hahahaha..
I hope, for the sake of everyone, you are right, and Byrd stands up.

P.S. I like the Raiders too. They're my husband's number one team. Due to being a Northern California transplant, and having a loyalty to my home team, the Raiders are a very close second for me - but they are great.

22. Good question, Vektor. Small reminder: political parties don't
lead on controversies. People do. Political parties build consensus and try to gain office. For example, remember, Kennedy didn't invent the Civil Rights Movement; a lot of busted heads and arrests and even deaths did.

Political parties only move on these issues if they are forced to move from the left. That would be us :)
