3. Dosen't he?
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 11:21 AM by zerostar
I think Bush does have a mandate, until MASSIVE fraud can be proven. He has more votes than Clinton ever did.

Why does a president need a mandate anyway... Whoever won, thats all that should matter.

p.s. I know I am a noob here, I despise BushCo and would do anything for Kerry to be Pres.

4. What a nice way to prove fraud
by letting these signs BE our own exit polls.

5. Mandate means he got an overwhelming majority
1.875 % is NOT overwhelming.

Any time you are so close that oNE STAE seperates you from electoral victory or defeat, that is the OPPOSITE of a mandate.

Kerry got more votes than Clinton as well.

7. 1.8%?
Didn't Bush win by 3% vs. Kery? What did clinton win by % wise in 1992 and 1996?

13. The margin was supposedly ~3 million
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 12:59 PM by FreepFryer
Which is 1.8% of the total voting population.

By percentage, the lowest margin for a re-elected second-term president in history.

Clinton's margins (from a time before election manipulation):

1996

William Jefferson Clinton
Electoral Votes: 379
Pop. Vote: 47,401,898 (49.2%)

Robert Joseph Dole
Pop. Vote: 39,198,482 (40.7%)

1992

William Jefferson Clinton
Pop. Vote: 44,909,326 (43.0%)

George Herbert Walker Bush
Pop. Vote: 39,103,882 (37.4%)

Henry Ross Perot
Pop. Vote: 19,741,657 (18.9%)

15. Clinton won in a three way race with a viable third candidate. He would
have clobbered Papa Bush if it was a two way race.

My opinion.

8. If you think Bush has a mandate, you are not paying attention.
Pay attention.

Then post.

Not the other way around.

10. Bush Still...
In any case, Bush still:

1. Won reelection. That's the biggest factor.
2. Did so with an increased popular vote.
3. Did so with an increased electoral college vote.
4. Won an absolute majority.
5. His party increased its majority in both the house and the senate.

Any way you cut it, it's a mandate, at least as significant as the one Clinton won in 1996, and probably more so because of the control of Congress.

Bush 'won' with the lowest % margin in history.

The mandate is fiction, and you are a storyteller.

Freep on.
