11. few things are more important to us, both Repubs and Dems
than making sure that each votes counts... he just sat down. Sounded great though. Sen. Ron Wyden-D-Oregon is up now. Saying that in Oregon paper trails are required and the system worked well there in 2004.

14. Will Pitt just posted this excerpt from what Teddy said:
"The voting process did not live up to the standards we require," said Kennedy. "We must admit the election was flawed...I commend the many thousands of citizens who asked us to register our protest. We hope this issue is firmly planted on our agenda. No democracy worth the name can allow such a flawed process to stand."

He was very eloquent..

17. my hubbie recently figured out how to actually use the picture-in-picture
feature on our TV so I am flipping between the two CSPAN channels: House-Senate to see who is saying what. Sen. Frank Lautenberg-D-New Jersey is up now. He is supporting Boxer as well... now he yields to Hillary Clinton!

19. Hillary is speaking beautifully off-the-cuff, the others were reading
prepared notes. She is saying that "this body should stand up for the BiPartisan right to vote, thru the civil rights movement we expanded the right to vote for everyone. We should take a look at moving the Civil Rights Act into the 21st century. Do Unto Others as you would have them do unto you. We are on a slippery slope as a nation. We didn't get anywhere with trying to bring up a verifiable paper trail for voting. No meetings were allowed to discuss it. Last spring, India (world's largest democracy), 550 million people voted, they voted on electronic voting machines, they voted with uniform standards, did it with integrity"

that they are not contesting shrubs "win", nor are the saying the word "fraud"...but voting irregularities.

24. No Problem... trying to type as fast as I can...
Sen. Tom Harkin-D-Iowa is up now. Harry Reid was just up and kinda sounded muddled about retracting an earlier statement. Couldn't really figure out what his point was, as he still said he questioned the way the Ohio vote was conducted. Anyway, Harkin says "standing for 10 hrs to vote throws acid in the face of democracy." Questioning Blackwell! "Concerted effort by an Ohio official (blackwell) to thwart/suppress effort to vote" "need federal statute to review software used to count votes" "not a federal constitutional amendment to guarantee the citizens the right to vote" "we need to fix a broken system"

25. Obama is up now--
He again is speaking off the cuff, no notes. 'I am absolutely convinced that George Bush won this election, he got more votes in Ohio, this is not an issue in which we are challenging the outcome of the election. We need to separate the outcome from the process. 4 yrs ago we had troubling evidence that every vote was not counted. Yet again, we see that happening... I would strongly urge that this chamber, as well as the House of Representatives take it upon itself to reform this system.'

i moved here in '80 and was so proud to think that you'd be my senator - I was worried that I'd have to work against you if you didn't stand up for us - now I'll see how you vote
