Community grassroot progressive groups meet to form an umbrella Alliance
I just got back from a Central Ohio Progressive Dems meeting. Progressives will not have a mouthpiece at the local level unless they organize to force change within the party establishment. Over 80 area organizers from different neighborhoods organizations, progessive advocacy groups, ect met to discuss how we can keep each group's autonomy yet work collectively to make sure our voices will be heard.

This group will allow us to coordinate our efforts to prevent redundancy, and improve communication within the progressive community. We are utilizing expertise(professors, lawyers, consultants) from within our community to educate members on better ways to get our message out.

I encourage other areas of the country to develop similar groups to begin work from the grass roots organizations that were established during the past election. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Activities like this will allow us to mobilize in opposition to the right wing agenda. There is strength in numbers! We cannot allow business as usual within the democratic party!

1. www.pdamerica.com
There's already Progressive Caucuses in several states. My own state's (MN) is very active, and meets every 2 weeks. We've gotten good press lately for several events we've sponsored, including DNC listening tours.

This is lower on the totem pole, City + suburban + exurban. Is your
State Progressive group run from the top down or bottom up?

3. EXCELLENT this is literally the best news i have heard in a while.
I have tried to word this in so many ways yet you spoke it perfectly. Thank you! This is the way we will get them. The right hand has a purpose separate from the left hand but now each will know and have the option to respond to what the other is doing. AWESOME!

4. Here's a group that's getting started in Florida but will be national soon
http://www.therightiswrong.us

I attended their first gathering in December, Ed Asner was the keynote and he was amazing. I was one of the featured presenters (there were 4 of us). My topic was--- you guessed it--"Election Fraud.". It was actually pretty well attended (70-100 or so), considering they did very little marketing or promotion.

Look guys- the interest is out there- we all know that. We are huge in numbers- we just need to be able to mobilize into one group- or at least one communications center so we can stay in contact with each other in order to take major action. I'm hoping PDAmerica.org will give this a jump start since they are already national and have made great inroads already. I'll know more after the weekend but I am excited about them in a big way.

Here's more on the THE UMBRELLA MOVEMENT TO COUNTERACT THE RIGHT

This is a grass roots organization dedicated to the proposition that: THE RIGHT IS WRONG

We believe that the extreme political right and the Christian Right
have led our country in a direction which endangers the
preservation of the basic freedom, liberty and democratic society
we have known.

We believe that through organization we can educate, energize, and
mobilize a concerned public, and join forces with others who believe, as we do, that the Right is Wrong.

Email Norman (Founder and President) for more info about how you can become involved in Florida or in other states. His contact info is on the site.

5. This is how we do it, folks!
One community at a time!!

mod mom, this is excellent news. I am so excited to see that Ohio is getting organized. Many voices speaking as one = beautiful music.

Please keep us informed, especially the VOTE group, as we are trying to link to all of these groups.

This is just terrific news!
