Video: John Bonifaz' address to the Mass Dem Convention
I am pleased to report that John Bonifaz qualified to be on the primary ballot. With 15% of the delegate vote required, John scored an impressive 30%, quite a feat considering he is a progressive "outsider" and is opposing an incumbent!

1. Man of Integrity.....
Quite the speech! I've heard John speak only once in person. He has a presence. The whole country knows of John Bonifaz, he's done so much on a national level. I don't see how Galvin, the incumbent(who's ever heard of him outside of MA?) can win...He's just been more of the same, not impressive...We need progressive! MA has to lead the way for fixing up the mess this country is in regarding voting rights, and John Bonifaz is the only one who can do this....
This is an extremely important race~not just for MA~the whole country will be watching.....
:kick:

8. one way you can help
On way you can help that takes almost no time, is to visit the web site a couple of times a week and comment on the blog. You don't even need an account, and I post several new things each week, so there will always be something new to comment on. You can do it in less than a minute.

Why does it matter? Because lots of people are visiting the web site now to learn more about him, and we want as many of them as possible to think there's a reason for them to come back! People who visit the site once, read what they want to read, and never come back, aren't nearly as useful to us as people who return periodically. Seeing comments from other web site visitors is one of the things most likely to draw a repeat audience.

So help us build an audience for the web site, by spending literally less than 5 minutes a week commenting on the blog.

4. You're damn right "I'm sure I want to recommend this thread!"
He must win. This would give huge momentum to get the cause revved up.

I'll bet about 98% of his delegates were torqued and that's a powerhouse in the making.

Galvin should recognize he's defeated and leave the field. Tell him I said that would you
paine. Thanks.

5. Next time he calls
He actually did call me one time, and I have met him once at a campaign event. He's a nice gentleman, but nowhere close to JB on clean elections and protecting voting rights.

9. Galvin will be very very hard to beat
If every voter got to see Bonifaz speak, we'd win for sure. But the majority of voters will go into their polling place on September 19th not only never having seen him speak, but possibly never even having heard of him. And then they'll vote for the incumbent, whose face is all over state web sites and publications and other materials and has been for over a decade.

We're going to need a powerful campaign to get the word out to the voters. We need your help:
1. If you have money, contribute something.
2. Sign up to volunteer, especially if you live in MA
3. Visit johnbonifaz.com once a week, and comment on the blog!
4. Post a blog post about John on your personal blog or a political blog you participate in, send email about him to election reform lists, and talk to your friends - really! It sounds dorky, but do it! :) (and encourage them to do the above three things as well)

10. video link fixed
For anyone who tried to view the convention video yesterday and got garbled text instead of a video - it's fixed now. Come back and try watching it again. It's too bad we don't have a video of his speech that followed. Reading the transcript doesn't convey the way he spoke it, and hides some points of emphasis, like:
None of these questions are personal against Secretary Galvin. I know he is a good man. But, delegates, these are the issues ... and, as Democrats, we must discuss them in an open and transparent manner... not disregard them by labeling them as "negative".
