I think plenty of conservatives believe there are some Americans who aren’t entitled to vote, particularly if they're minorities or poor. That's why in Ohio and Florida they’re actively trying to stamp out voter registration drives. Did anybody see the recent editorial in the New York Times on this subject?

If conservatives will publicly go this far to deny people the vote, can you imagine what they're willing to do in secret? Why do you think they claim there's no need for a paper trail for electronic voting? I recently published a novel set thirty years from now in which voting is conducted through the internet and all Americans are assigned a web address at birth along with their social security number. This effectively eliminated the need for voter registration, but unfortunately the results of the elections are all decided in advance by five powerful right-wing extremists. No paper trails required because the American people have been assured that internet voting is infallible.

I've heard liberal commentators say that it’s a waste of time to encourage people who are ignorant and uninformed to get out and vote. Apparently they think the only people whose vote should be counted are conservative Republicans. That's why it's always been the job of liberals to look out after those whose voices would otherwise not be heard.
