Springsteen to make available anti-war "Bring Them Home"
From Backstreets.com:

NEW TOUR SONGS: BRING THEM HOME?
You know how everybody (well, at least us and a lot of people we hear from) has been saying that Bruce should release songs like "Poor Man" and "Bring Them Home"? A couple bits of interesting news along those lines:

David Corn, The Nation editor and Springsteen fan, recently posted on his blog...

A reliable source informs me that Springsteen's version of Pete Seeger's antiwar tune 'Bring Them Home' will be released as a track on an expanded version of his recent Seeger Sessions album. And it will be available soon on iTunes.

And then there's the recent interview Bruce did with the Norwegian newspaper VG, solving the mystery of what he was doing in a recording studio in Oslo: "We discovered this beautiful little studio down by a canal. I had written some new lyrics for 'Bring Them Home (If You Love Your Uncle Sam)' on the way to Oslo, so I recorded some vocals there... Hopefully we'll be able to use it some time or another, maybe on a Seeger Sessions, Volume 2 sometime, who knows? But its certainly the first recording I have done in Oslo!" (Thanks to Lars Flugsrud for the translation.)
Nothing solid yet, but it's sounding like something is in the works. We'll keep you posted.

2. cool pic...
Springsteen spoke to this strange newfound difficulty of putting American asses in American seats: "In places like Paris and London, people were jumping out of their seats for American songs that are 100 years old... But in the Midwest, we're having trouble selling tickets." Read the whole article at www.marinij.com.

3. I love Bruce to death
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 10:28 AM by LoKnLoD
been a rabid fan since 1975, but I can't afford a concert anymore, $250 for two people, parking etc. My electric bill has gone from $60 a month to $160 and my heating gas bill from $60 a month to $120 since this piece of shit President was elected.

5. That's my problem with concerts. Can't afford 'em. Or I could,
but the kid would be pretty hungry for a while. I mean, I've given up pretty much everything I can now. Next it's cut out the essentials.

But as much as I want to, it won't be for a concert.

7. Did you take these pics?
I grew up in Eatontown, NJ. When I was 17 (back in 1981) I found out the house where Bruce was living at the time, up by the Monmouth Resevoir. We hid out in his backyard woods for an hour and listened to them rehearse for some shows at the Meadowlands. After they were done we snuck up to the driveway, I got to meet Max Weinberg when he came out of the house, Bruce's girlfriend at the time (Joyce Heiser) drove up and bitched us out and told us she was calling the cops. Good times....

8. I Took Them At JazzFest
That's a pretty cool story. You even remembered the name of Bruce's girlfriend. I wonder if he even remembers her name.

Listening to Bruce rehearse while hiding out in his "backyard." Good times indeed. Out here in California, we take whatever chance we can to see him when he's around. His "base" always will be in Jersey though, and it's wonderful seeing him play out there.

6. that song could become an anti-war anthem again . . .
I'm excited to see what Bruce did with the lyrics to make them relevant to Iraq . . .

here's a post from awhile back describing one of my fondest memories of Pete singing "Bring Them Home" . . . enjoy . . . :)
