FL: Wexler May Take Voting Machines Case to U.S. Supreme Court

Wexler may take voting machines case to U.S. Supreme Court

Jun. 21, 2006

BRIAN SKOLOFF
Associated Press

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Democratic U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler said Wednesday he was considering an appeal of a federal court ruling that said Florida could use electronic voting machines that don't leave a paper trail.

In 2004, Wexler sued Florida's secretary of state and Palm Beach County's elections supervisor, alleging the state disenfranchised voters by approving the machines that don't create a paper record for use in a recount in close elections.

Wexler said he was considering asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case after the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected his claim in ruling Tuesday that paperless machines don't violate Floridians' constitutional rights.

The appeals court acknowledged that a recount would differ in counties using touch-screen machines but noted it did not rise to the level of unequal treatment of voters.

his occupation of the white house? wexler must be delusional if he thinks the scotus is going to do a damn thing about those voting machines, more especially so now that they've added alito and roberts--two bush asskissers.

7. So...
...we are all with him, right?

We are all in favor of Wexler fighting for our rights, right?

Well, lets hear it then.

And if he does take it to SCOTUS, lets try to have some boots on the ground there, carrying signs and saying Hooray! for our side.

11. Well, I am, for sure
and he should do it. The outcome is the iffy part with all the reich currently on the SCOTUS. But what do we have to lose, really? I say we have to fight them tooth and nail all the way.

10. he is defending our rights
even when you don't win a court case, you do win something.

an audience
visibility
accountability - the court has to show its true self in the ruling, then they can't pretend
to have integrity

Sometimes a lawsuit is a way of forcing opponents to take their stand publicly,
and it comes back on them later.

Wexler has brass.

12. Tell this story to the entire world! No paper trail?! Red Flag
for sure! I hope Wexler will bring this story to the MSM, forcing them to cover it! Keep yelling, screaming, banners, go to the streets! Republican manufactured and programmed voting machines are criminal enough, but not paper trail, no exit polls, no recounts?! It is so damned obvious what is going on! Perhaps Lou Dobbs will cover this now?!
