CA: Tally is Rising in Registration Fraud

Tally is rising in registration fraud

June 26, 2006

The verifiable number is now up to 536 Democrats who were fraudulently reregistered as Republicans by bounty hunters paid for each new voter they brought to the GOP.

But based on phone calls made by a Democratic Party volunteer to warn of the fraud, the ultimate number could top 1,000.

An aggressive voter registration drive in the central part of the county this spring, funded by the county GOP, attracted the scofflaw signature gatherers. Some victims noticed the problem when they received registration update cards from county Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley or letters from county GOP Chairman Scott Baugh welcoming them to the party.

If half of all the fraud victims are unaware, there could be 1,000 or more victims in all.

4. They keep people from voting in Democratic Party primary for the best
D candidate (or for the progressive D candidate).

The R want the weaker (or most conservative) D to win in the primaries so that their R challenger will be more likely to win (or the seat will be filled by a conservative D if not the R).

If you have to be a registered D to vote in the Democratic Primary, then if the R re-register you as an R - you can't vote in the primary - or you get to cast a provisional ballot which gets tossed.

7. I was a poll worker in the last election

and I saw it happen at least nine times.

Democrats, in a minority neighborhood, that were FLOORED when they were told that they were registered as Libertarian or NP.

I talked to at least 1o people that were in shock.

I have no way of knowing how many others were tricked this way.

Shameful!

I did report it on my Survey sheet at the end of the evening.

10. What they tried on me was even simpler. They just told me
my name wasn't on the rolls and expected me to go away.

Three different people "read" the rolls and said, "Nope, you're not here. Sorry."

So, I relieved them of the book and found it right away exactly where it was supposed to be.

30. Well, I was just too shocked. This was in 2004, when God was
a child and I thought voting was easy. :(

The poll workers didn't even blink.

15. Maybe you could contact your local Dem Party, or others mentioned
in the newspaper story, or the author of the newspaper story? Sound the alarm! In a way, the situation reminds me of the GOP as a pedophile who treatens a child, warns them not to tell. The *most* important thing we can all do is RUN AND TELL, then tell on them again and again and again.

We. know. what. you. did. last Spring. We. know. what. you. are. planning. this. Fall.

We. see. you. We. will. not. be. silent. We. will. tell.

16. I have done just that but I am only one voice

I just sent a letter to Congresswoman Diane Watson today.

But I am still one voice and I know they are going to mess with the votes again.

29. Considering how many precincts we have in LA County
that is ultimately huge. 10 people?

We have to check with McCormack :( whether a voter can verify his/her information. I think it is this new registration data system that is screwing things up.
This has to be publicized and alert voters to make sure their information is correct before November.

which they discard. This in the general election. If Ohio is any indicator.
Then they use these "repub" registrations to pad repub vote.

17. This way the election percentages match historical trends
except for a shift in party affiliations. Statistically, it would appear to be a red shift.

one day, the suckers run out.

They need the fake registrations. Looking at the number of fake registrations might indicate which precincts they intend to flip.

It would be an interesting post mortem to compare the data. I don't think the registration drives are random. It is a very calculated move to set the election up.

5. I still wonder if the real purpose wasn't just to get them as Republicans.
Edited on Tue Jun-27-06 09:55 AM by calipendence
Though that might have served some purpose in hiding their trails, but if the real purpose was to get all of these voters to go through the newer "throw out a lot of voters" DMV matching algorithms in Bruce McPherson's voter reg matching programs that throws out voters if their name and address info doesn't match from their driver's license with what's submitted through voter registratrion. That could be far worse in that many of these voters could have been tossed out altogether and not able to vote at all. If that is so, then it would be heavily throwing out Dem voters, even though it looks like they are Republicans.

Has anyone looked into how these "reregistrations" went through that filter? It was reported that 26% statewide were being thrown out and as much as 43% in L.A. were being thrown out (where this fraud was really going on heavily). I think this is where the real criminal intent of this effort lay.

11. You can also be prevented from voting if their is a conflict in
your information. if, on election day, you find out you are registered ot the wrong party and change back your information, you will have to cast a provisional vote. Chances are it won't be counted. in addition, if one were to cheat in an election, the information on how many republicans voted would be larger than the truth, facillitating fraud.
