Hand Audits by November
Is this something we can all support, 100%? One simple bill. Oregon has one, I don't know who else.

If there is machine counting, there must be a hand audit of ballots. Do you think we can get this done in every state by November if we focus only on this?

Puweeezzee!!!

1. Ain't that in the latest Holt bill? Sure ... it's normal in some place and
it would nice to have national standards.

2. Each state has to pass their own law
I figured somebody who was so in the know about all the New York politicos would know basic election law.

3. This is a no-brainer
I'm shocked that there aren't mandatory audit programs in every state.

4. Yes.
And opponents will construct pitfalls, and some people might want to dissuade any attempt by telling you that there are so many scary traps that it is better not to try.

What do we really know?

Count the pieces of paper.

5. Absolutely!
Does anybody know anyone at all in a profession which requires the use of complex equipment who is not required to regularly verify the performance of said machines with regular audits?

6. We need to get the voters rights people on board
I think this is the most important thing we can do this year.

8. If states have the option
of going paper by November, and being reimbursed by the government, it sounds like the people need to let their secretary's of state, and their representatives know about it.

9. We need to organize to make that happen
People with the different national organizations could push it down to the state level.

7. We need a paper trail first.

And, I also think reforms can and should come from the Federal level.

We need to guarantee voting integrity in every state and have a set of national criteria establishing what that is.

10. Many states have paper trails
We should get automated hand audits wherever there is a paper trail. A paper trail does no good if it's not being audited. In conjunction with Holt's bill, this can be done this year. The way to control elections in non-secure states is to get plenty of secure ones.
