Does Anyone Know the Status of a Recount in New Hampshire? Where's It Stand?
I kept cool about this until I began to read the glaring differences between the hand tabulations and those by machine.

What is going on with this?

Is it up to Dennis Kucinich?

Doesn't the State of New Hampshire have an interest in the integrity of their election process?

Anyone have an update?

7. Yikes -- you better check behind me on bradblog.
I read down thread. The last I heard, Dennis had paid the deposit and it was on but, it looks like that may be qualified. :(

2. much info about this on bradblog.com
Two requests were made for a recount. One from kucinich, and one from a Republican who is running for Pres and had 70 votes, which he believed should have been 130 according to his tally.

I believe it starts this Wednesday (the recount)but am not 100% sure.
There are also questions about the safety of the chain of custody of the ballots since the election.

5. Money is key
The cost of the recount will be anywhere from $50,000 to $70,000 for the Republican and Democratic primaries each.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/01/12/officials_in_nh_agree_to_recount_primary_vote/

"Both candidates agreed in writing to pay the full cost of the recounts, Secretary of State William Gardner said. Both could back out when they get the estimates, expected next week. Deputy Secretary of State David Scanlan said recounts could start Wednesday."

That piece was published on Saturday. I do not know anything more. Don't count on this happening.
