CAN WE ALL AGREE TO TOTALLY IGNORE TROLLS WHO TELL US TO JUST MOVE ON?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 02:04 AM by TruthIsAll
Starting right now?

The trolling is so transparent. It's not worth the effort of a reply.

I've often made the mistake of replying to these posts with sarcasm. In fact, I just did a few minutes ago. It's counterproductive, and I will no longer do so. But only if we all agree to avoid replying to these diversionary posts.

They are designed to exhaust our energies, to frustrate and demoralize us.

As they say: Don't feed 'em, bleed 'em.

End of rant.

but there are so many people attacking so many people on here, it's hard to tell who the trolls are. We need a litmus test to be 'certain' of alliance with the cause. Seriously. In fact, I am a troll, a red stater, a conservative, a bushista according to many on DU. So... despite my 20 plus years in the dem party as a grassroots worker.... despite protests...despite losing family and friends over the issue of politics, I don't qualify here on du. So... who ya gonna trust???? Best we ALL find real people in real time in our real cities to connect with and make something happen in REAL TIME.....

24. the problem is
how do we KNOW you were a grassroots worker, etc...im not questioning you at all, understand, but ALL we have to go on is what is posted. since obviously noone can know who anyone else is, we must look at people as their posts, and that alone. its flawed yes, but unavoidable

Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 01:57 AM by truehawk
The Democratic Party Intelligencia has long lacked the courage of it's convictions.
I can understand their comments and their motives, and stipulate that they are usually benign, however the result for the country is NOT.

Just putting aside all the human lives that will be lost if Bush is president for 4 more years, the GIs that will loose limbs, and the children that will die screaming by bomb, or wimpering from hunger, when you watch "It is a Wonderful Life" this Christmas, think about the Building and Loan. Those were the institutions that were the subject of the asset stripping opperation under Bush I known as the Savings and Loan "Bailout". The S&Ls were put UNDER by a little rule change by Bush's SEC that change the capitolization ratio without giving them time to sell stock, so they had to call in loans, or go bankrupt and have their assects seized by the "Resolution Trust". Either way the ReThugs got to buy Trillions of Dollars of assets for a dime on the dollar.

Shrub has made it possible for the companies to reneg on their pentions.

And now the Greedy Bastards are eyeing Social Security even though the payees/payors ratio will be less in the next 30 years than it was in the 60s.

If you think ANYTHING in this country that is vulnerable to Bush's depredations worth fighting for, worth trying to save, then the recount is the ONLY GAME in town.

And once you start looking, I think you will find some very interesting thing.

18. I like the trolls - a few of them are pretty clever
I have read a couple of them, not many but a few have said some clever things. I usually ignore them but mocking them does add a bit of diversion in my usually dull life. I would hate to see their voices censored but if they try to derail a topic without verfiable proof that the topic needs to be derailed then they should be labeled as trolls and nuked :nuke:. I think there should be a way to flick a vitual booger at them.

Sincerely,
Michael Lewis

its just that you appear to not realize that we can DO BOTH. we can think about more than one thing at a time, and this is NOW. we have 2 years to worry about 06, and there are a lot of things that we have to do now to even consider the 06 election close to being fair

41. I think the difference is ...
if you try to discourage others, who believe there might be something we can do, from trying it. I respect the opinion of those who feel that the best thing to do is concentrate on the next election, but I would also expect them to respect my feeling that we need to fight now if we are to have any chance of ever having fair elections again. If you want to concentrate on the next elections, fine -- that's great! Start a thread, meet up with like-minded people, and start working on it. But, all this negative sniping just drags us all down.

I don't have a problem with honest people. Trolls are trolls because they just want to be assholes.

And -- when trying to prove a case, it's CRITICAL that you always have an honest opposing viewpoint to bounce your ideas off of. So if you have questions or doubts, or if you see weak arguments, then it's critical for the health of these forums that you speak up.

34. I will only "move on"
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 02:55 AM by boi1946
when the each and every valid vote from this last election has been counted, and when a change is made in the election process so that future voters will not have to wait for hours in lines to vote, then walk away from the polls asking themselves "Did my vote count?".
And what do you say to all the new voters---"OH yeah, Bush got an extra 4 thousand votes here and there, a few places got double-counted, a few people were turned away at the polls for no reason, but we want you to vote again in 2006?" Whatever the outcome, as long as the doubt is there, we are not "A government by the people."

Changing the subject---I do not think the people here at DU give themselves enough credit for the change already effected. Do you think K. Olbermann would still be running with the Votergate story if it were not for our e-mails? Because of the outpouring of support, the "suits in the offices" didn't try to force him to drop the story. Now the msm is picking it up.
Who stopped Sinclair? Who has been doing untold amounts of research, and giving encouragement and money to the people on the front-lines in Ohio, Florida, New Hampshire, Nevada, etc.?

Pat yourselves on the backs, folks, ignore the trolls, and keep up the fight!!!

37. Trolls and the like seem to be busiest where there's smoke
signalling the fires that'll bring down their bosses.

How to tell? Well, just trace the 'Internet Conspiracy Theory' label back to it's primary site of origin. ( Hint- See DU Archives, has a lot to do with that special day that BushCo popularity suddenly shot WAY up, oh about 3 years ago.)
Now it's not for the squeamish, or the close-minded, but should be of special interest to those who want to observe subterraneans with a suspiciously similar M.O. to the Move On'ers 'round here.

And then the rest of the DU community can finally start putting CT 1 and CT 2 together...

I think its OK to express ones concerns , fears, frustrations on the situation.
Its a FIGHT that is not an easy one , fighting for democracy and free, fair elections is a challenge, however it can and will be done ...If the people want change and are willing to STAND AND FIGHT

As for those that say get over it "move on" ......I don’t think this is helpful at all perhaps they should be posting in another part of the Forum ,
Like general politics.....most of the people coming to election results are about fighting the good fight

62. Is David Corn of The Nation a "troll" ...
Or should progressives start using their brains?

More on the "Stolen Election"

My friends who believe Bush was only able to vanquish Kerry because the election results were rigged are not going to enjoy my latest "Capital Games" column at www.thenation.com. As a recount in Ohio looms, I note that the case for the "stolen election" has not been made.

===========================================================
There was a time when progressives could be counted upon to come up with intelligent positions backed up by reason. You guys who continue to push the "stolen election" stuff are making progressives look stupid.

vested in his particular version of reality to see what else might be really going on.

The cause of his blindness might be contained in these very words:

"My friends who believe Bush was only able to vanquish Kerry because the election results were rigged..."

63. A-a-amen, A-a-men, A-amen, A-amen
Sing it with me brothers!
A-a-amen, A-a-men, A-amen, A-amen

Sing it with me sisters!
A-a-amen, A-a-men, A-amen, A-amen

All together now!
A-a-amen, A-a-men, A-amen, A-amen

Loud enough they can hear it in heaven!
A-a-amen, A-a-men, A-amen, A-amen

And one last time!
A-a-amen, A-a-men, A-amen, A-amen

65. Sure thing
I think ignoring them is a fine idea.

They are designed to exhaust our energies, to frustrate and demoralize us.

While I don't agree with all of your number crunching exercises I agree with you completely on that point.

68. My response to anyone who says 'just move on' -- NO, NEVER &
We must not allow this election to stand:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x97709#97813

"Halt, Audit & Prove My Vote Counts, Now" - and, oh by the way, even when that is done we still have the totally invalidating fact that many of our fellow citizens were effectively suppressed from voting.

Thus, this election goes into the sewar of history where it belongs and we are going to have another one.

Peace.
