I personally believe we would start having something along the lines of the Salem Witch Hunts again.

39. Yup, this would be me.
Politely, with a "no thanks, I'm all set", but that would be the extent of the conversation. And unless that was met with rudeness, no problem.

Well, if you came to my father's door he would have asked you in
and had a good discussion. Since I don't have the time I would probably tell you what I tell the Jehovah's Witnesses: Sorry I already have my own religion. Thank you anyway.

14. My late father-in-law used to qutoe them two Bible passages.
... out of context, of course. These two quote were originally unrelated, but they go so well together ...

I don't recall the exact chapter and verse, but the gist of the two quotes were:

"And Judas went forth and hanged himself." "Go ye and do likewise."

10. I always try to be polite to Jehovah's Witnesses....
However lately, they're coming all the damn time. I used to tell them that I had my own religion, as well. When that no longer worked and they wouldn't give up, I said that I worshipped satan. They haven't been back since.

40. They don't come too often here - which is good, because the
one who did, and literally put her foot in the door so I couldn't close it, sort of bothered me.

The LDS boys are sort of funny - so scared and earnest! This is a VERY RC town - they're definitely fighting an uphill battle - I usually try to tell them that, but on they go - roasting in their white shirts and ties...

A: "Someone who knocks on your door for no apparent reason."

Heard that one from a friend of mine who's a Unitarian minister...

What if you meet someone on one of your "missions" who bumps you from heaven, because they live a more "pure life" than you?

12. The way I understand it
The ones at the top of the pyramid scheme...uh sorry..Jehovah's Witnesses...are the ONLY ones who actually go to Heaven.
I don't think they are the ones knocking on the door. Those are their loyal foot soldiers.

How can they presume to know?

And why would anyone go door to door if they knew heaven is already full? This makes no sense.

23. if i have jehovah and seven day coming to my door, i would not fear for atheists anymore
no, .... i do not think they would be received any worse than the others knocking on my door and i live in a religious belt.

but so what to those that knock on my door. i stand on the porch in total disagreement with them and have lovely conversations of difference without the need to come to blows. at what point have we become so rigid in what is allowed.

to flip over a christian or seven day or jehovah knocking at your door is just to small and petty

29. What would motivate an atheist to do that?
I can see the group of Christians who believe that non-believers who don't know Jesus and don't accept him as a savior are doomed for eternity and they feel the urgency to go out saving souls. But what would be the motivation for the people who lack those beliefs?

31. Oh yeah
I forgot about the atheist plan to destroy religion. All an atheist have to do to contribute to the cause is to express his/her lack of belief. Even I have been accused of being part of this conspiracy.

So to clear my name I ask you:

How dare you express your opinion here in the R/T forum?

Mine was moved (although it was really tongue-in-cheek at best)and the other was not.
More crappy work by mods who have agendas.

I was just joking with cosmik debris. The question in the message you replied to was not directed at you. :-)

I guess the intention/context of your OP lost its purpose/meaning when the mods decided to "hide" it in this forum. That sucks.

Standing there mute just unnerved everybody. I never clinched a sale, but got a lot of weapons pointed at me.

So, I quit and took a better job selling zeppelins door to door. It was only slightly easier, but I didn't have to run from buckshot.
