The delusion of hopelessness.
Edited on Wed May-19-10 01:30 AM by RandomThoughts
There are some that think it is to late, or that they are in bad situations and things will never get better by religious doctrine, and some view of where they are.

I have thought, why would one all powerful God let there be many religions, why not just tell people with one religion the way it should be.

That simple statement holds a few realities. That means that people are allowed to choose, and should think and feel their way to what they think is best. Some could be wrong, but all would have to face the concept that they could be wrong. If they were just told, then they would not learn or develop in any way.

Also the fear of lack of grace, or being punished could always be there with multiple beliefs, because any person could think they picked the wrong one at any time, and each one is based on faith so knowing for sure is also faith. So thinking on a persons faith, and what it tells a person to do or be like becomes important. And then it is not just what is told by a religous leader, but also feeling your way to what is best.

Also multiple beliefs hinders one hierarchy from having to much control and being able to set up an authoritarian system.

I find that helps if people think it is to late, logically there are many ways to see faith in other terms then to late, delusions of thinking it is too late, may just be a way to strengthen faith and add thought and feeling to things.

That's how I think on that.

"To Late For What"

Some think it is to late for hope, which is much of what people think of as hopelessness. To late for dreams, or feelings, or love, or any of those things in a persons mind they cherish and think on.

I think that is why you can not lose your dreams while in strife either, since you will need the dreams when you make it out of strife.

6. If God really favors one of the religions over the others

then it would give us more hope if He would just bloody tell us what it is! A lot of mankind's angst is due to the possibility that there is either nothing after death or that we might randomly make the wrong choice and get tossed into a lake of fire.

What good is the development that a soul gains from making its own choices if it just gets tortured in the end? "Boy did I learn a lesson by accidentally choosing the wrong belief system during my one and only life! Am I allowed to stop gargling molten rock now? Please?"

There are far better ways to teach us the values of hope and love then to leave us totally in the dark concerning our ultimate fate. If the God of the Bible exists, it really doesn't seem like our hope is a very high priority for Him. He seems more interested in completing His plan, and we are the tools to this end.

Just the impression I get from the Bible stories. Sorry if that's the wrong choice.

3. “why would one all powerful God let there be many religions”?

For the same reason an all powerful government would let there be many schools?

Each in accord with humanities stage of development at a particular time.

Kindergarten is no more or less important than primary, secondary or tertiary education.
The social rules at kindergarten are blunt and ridged- “Thou shalt not poke Jimmy in the eye”…subsequent education becomes more subtle and sophisticated ;-)

“Also multiple beliefs hinders one hierarchy from having to much control and being able to set up an authoritarian system.”

True…and each religion has social laws that meet the requirements of the time (ie eating pork in a desert region is hazardous) while the central spiritual principle- The Golden Rule…is common to all major faiths at all times.

Never too late for hope ;-)
