A question for LGBT Atheists

I was just revisiting Greta Christina's excellent blog and was digging pretty deep when I came across one of her older posts that had a quite interesting observation.

She made the comment that, as a gay person, she felt a lot more welcome by the atheist community than she did as an atheist in the gay community.

Just wanted to get the pulse of DU on this subject, to help see if her anecdotal account might speak about general group tolerance levels and what not in the greater society at large.

Was the poll that offensive?

Maybe I should have commissioned Boojatta to post it, as his polls always seem to get high participation rates. LOL.

My main inspiration for posting this, BTW, was reading Skinner's post in the LGBT forum, speaking about how frustrated the LGBT community was with the African-American community for so disproportionately supporting Proposition 8 in California in such numbers in 2008.

It just made me think about how sometimes more accepted minorities can hypocritically be even more intolerant of less accepted minorities than even the general population.

I just wanted to see if maybe the same phenomenon might be happening between LGBT and atheists.

But maybe the poll's non-participation speaks volumes in and of itself?

there probably aren't too many Atheist-GLBT's among them. They're the only people who qualify to vote in the poll.
