Gandhi once said if Christians lived according to their faith, there would be no Hindus left in India. He knew how powerful the fundamental tenets of Christianity -- fighting poverty, caring for the least among us, loving your enemies, eschewing materialism and embracing humility -- could be if everyone who called themselves a Christian truly followed them.

The new documentary, Jesus Camp, which chronicles a North Dakota summer camp where kids as young as 6 are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in "God's army," is an illustration of this sentiment in the extreme.

2. Wow! (recommended)

The star of the film is Pastor Becky Fischer, who explains the startling mission of her "Kids on Fire" camp: "I want young people to be as committed to laying down their lives for the Gospel as they are in Pakistan." At the camp, the children are asked: "How many of you want to be those who will give up your life for Jesus?" Little hands shoot up from every direction. They are told: "We have to break the power of the enemy over the government." At one point, Becky yells: "This means war! Are you a part of it or not?" More little hands.

insane! Pentacostal madness at its nuttiest! But GREAT article, I recommend reading the whole thing.

It's basically a gee-whiz, who would be interested in li'l old harmless us piece.

4. Oh my
Becky claims that "President Bush has added credibility to being a Christian."

<snip>

A mother helps her children with homework and informs them that, "Global warming is not going to happen. Science doesn't prove anything."

Yeah, they're credible all right. :eyes:

5. 1212 Replay: Christers have done this before
The Children's Crusade: To free the Holy Land of Infidels - or was it of Unbelievers - can never remember who are those blessed by God and who are those Blessed by Allah.

In any event, about 1212 CE - around the same time as the Albigensian Crusade against Christians in the south of France was stamping out the heresy that there there exists a spark of divine light in man(and even worse woman)kind - tens of thousand of children set off to the Holy Land. What became of them is uncertain though it has long been thought that they ended up being sold into slavery in Araby by the Christian ship owners who offered them passage to THL.

Slavery may or may not have been their end, but it is certain that either God was not on their side or that (in those days only of course) Allah was a bigger, badder god than God as the Holy Land has not yet become overtly Christian.

Leaving aside, of course, the unremitting carnage, murder, and oppression in that Blessed Land

It is good to see the Church of Christ returning to Traditional Values.
