Religious/Spiritual DUers, do you pray for Bush?
I cannot remember offhand but I read that while praying you should pray for your leaders, so I have always done this, as far as I can recall. Not necessarily mentioning a specific name or anything. I just usually say: " I pray for the leaders of our city, state and country and the leaders of the world." From time to time, if I feel especially concerned, I will maybe mention Bush's name. Although, I have never referred to him by his title, as I don't believe he is legitimately in the WH. But I have prayed for him to do a good job and so on. Of course, for the sake of our country I do wish he would do a good job. That is genuine. I also do not wish any harm on him or anybody. I don't like the man or his policies, I think he has some serious problems with morality, but I do want him to be safe, just the same as I would anybody. I wish nothing bad on anyone even those I may not like.

But, I am curious to know if anybody else prays for the leaders of our country in general, which would include Bush, or for him in particular.

1. I Do Sometimes
I'm a pretty general prayer as I usually just pray that God's will, not mine, be done

I sometimes pray that Bush doesn't destroy our nation, if that be God's will

7. I pray for the United States
and that it becomes the country I thought it was when I was in grade school.

As for Bush, I've said this many times before, but when I say the Lord's Prayer and say "deliver us from evil" I now add "you know who I'm talking about".

The Rabbi: Of course. 'May God bless and keep the Czar... far away from us!'"

10. I Pray that the Truth Will Come Out
I believe it's starting to happen but I also pray the American public will believe the truth when they hear it. That seems to be a big problem so far.

13. I pray about him. I ask that God would rescue the victims of his
actions. For instance, the people of Iraq, the poor of the world, etc. I don't think that I am necessarily pray for him. The basis for my prayer is what Luther told those who were oppressed to do. Pray for relief because God could do in one second what we cannot do.

14. right
I always pray for the trouble spots of the world, Iraq, Darfur etc. I'll pray for all those who suffer, pretty much how you just described. I think that's a good approach.

"May God bless and keep the Czar... far away from us!"

18. not even close
huh? :)

Yeah, I seriously hope people in authority can get the job done and do the right thing. I pray for that. I think we would all be much happier if Bush was actually good at his job, you know? It just hasn't worked out that way. :)

19. I was wondering
if any DUers went to churches that automatically did that. I don't attend church. I mainly do my own thing. Pray several times daily, read the bible from time to time and try to live by the Beatitudes etc. I do like church though, I just don't attend all that often.

I pray that Bush and others will recognize the flaws in their agendas and do a better job running this country and gain the gift of loving their neighbors and helping others through charity, love, etc.

I also pray for Osama bin Laden, Zawahiri, etc. from time to time that the Goddess will fill their hearts with joy for their fellow men and women and reveal the futility of violence and disorder, and sow the seeds of love in their hearts.

22. Depends on what you mean by "for" - I don't pray in favor of him,
but I do pray on his behalf, that he make wise decisions, that he help humanity, that he do nothing destructive or hurtful, etc. etc. etc.

The same kind of prayer I offer for all people who are leaders, whether political or organizational.

Though I have to say that, in Fuckstick's case, I have often offered prayers of "Don't let him fuck this one up" or "Convict his heart to start using his brain", and stuff like that.

I also pray for his impeachment and his imprisonment as a criminal, war criminal, and otherwise bad guy.

that's exactly what I mean. You hit it exactly what I was looking for when you said it is the same type of prayer you offer for all leaders etc.

23. Isn't prayer supposed to be bad for people?
Heard there was a study where they found praying for someone actually makes them worse.

I, Evoman, then pray for Bush to recover completely and fully next time he chokes on a pretzel.

24. Sure -- for him to gain the wisdom and humanity he so obviously lacks
A lot of people's lives are in his unworthy hands right now. A change of character could only be a good thing.

28. Yes.,
I do not pray for George Bush in the sense that he is a "leader." He is certainly not my "leader." I pray that the Power of the Good Mind opens his eyes, because he is a sad example of the blind leading the blind. I also pray for him because I am convinced that it is extremely important to pray for one's enemies. I recognize President Bush as behaving in a manner that endangers what I believe is good about this country.
