Eye black messages banned
<snip>

"Did former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's eye black messages lead to NCAA legislation banning the activity?

Eye black with messages and wedge blocks will be banned in college football next season. And taunting penalties could cost teams points in 2011.

All three measures were approved by the NCAA on Thursday."

1. I called this here on DU months ago....
It was an easy call.....

Wait until St. Tebow leaves and then Bam, no more eye makeup. The NCAA simply didn't want to offend the Jesus lovers while Tebow was playing...

It was a matter of time before some player wore eye makeup with a message from the Koran---which I wish happened before the ban.

3. Too little too late, unfortunately
St. Tebow got away with it scot-free, pulling all kinds of national attention along the way. I suppose there is no such ban in the NFL and he'll continue.

4. Could be a matter of team policy too.
If I was a coach or team owner I wouldn't allow it. Where do you draw the line?

5. Most likely there is a ban on that in the NFL
The NFL won't even allow guys to wear their shirts outside their pants, so it is likely that they also ban eyeblack messages, especially those that may offend a lot of potential fans.

7. No taunting? What will the SEC do? I assume the SEC refs will allow them to still classlessly dive
into the end zone when no defenders are around.
