Go figure. Out of 32 GM's in the NFL, one of them isn't as smart as the average DU'er...
I'm out having dinner tonight to celebrate the anniversary of a couple of friends (who um, can't get married or serve their country), and there's a TV at the other end of the dining room. I look up to see Denver pick Tim Tebow as the 25th pick in the draft, and instantly feel validated. Months ago, I pointed out the fact that Tebow was a FOUR YEAR STARTER in the SEC and won 35 games. In the fucking SEC. Two SEC championships, and two BCS championships. No small feat.

Well go fucking figure. I guess I could have told anyone who would listen that out of any group of 32, no matter the makeup of the group, there would be at least one who wasn't as smart as this bunch. It seems as though the Denver GM falls into that group, and is as dumb as a rock. Ask any DU'er who remembers what Tebow had written in his eye-black last year. They'll tell ya: He believes in God, ergo: he's a loser.

Fellow DU'ers who were blinded by his faith trashed me and everyone else who said he'd go in the first round of the draft. A perfectly appropos statement goes here: None are so blind as those who will not see.

He won't start this year. He won't start next year. Hell, he might be a backup quarterback for his whole NFL career. I wouldn't protest or cheer one way or the other. I like good football. If he plays good football, power to him. If he doesn't, he'll be like one of hundreds of quarterbacks drafted... He just didn't make it. I will not though, single him out because he believes in the Flying Spaghetti Monster and wish bad luck on him because he does it out loud.

I just like good football. I don't care whether someone is a person of faith, an agnostic, or an atheist. If they play good football I'll root for them.

1. You keep saying he was a 4 year starter..Wrong!
And everyone acts as if he single handily won his first BCS game...

The world of Tebow worshipers conveniently forget Chris Leak.

Heading into his senior season, there was speculation that Leak might not be the starting quarterback in 2006 due to the emergence of talented freshman Tim Tebow.<1> This speculation proved false when Florida head coach, Urban Meyer, publicly endorsed Leak to be the starting quarterback and affirmed that Tim Tebow will play the back-up role. Preseason analysis showed that Florida had the hardest schedule in the country.

Leak led the Florida Gators to their second National Championship win with a 41–14 victory over Ohio State on January 8, 2007, taking home the offensive MVP award for the game. Leak's performance was solid throughout the championship game, completing his first nine passes at the start of the game. His final games stats includes completing 25 of 36 passes for 213 yards and one touchdown-- sealing a University of Florida rout of Ohio State University.

Dude---if you're going to lick Tebow's nut sack---at least get the facts right.

2. Go figure us dumb women
Didn't much like him doing an anti-choice ad during the superbowl. He can believe whatever the fuck he wants but he pushes his fucking fundamentalist believes on people. Tebow is disliked here for good reason. I can't wait till he's out of football so I don't have to listen to his fundamentalist crap.

3. Hey, get a room!
Tebow isn't pro material, and even those on ESPN rimming him have to admit it...and Trumad is right...he was NOT a four-year starter.

7. Mel Kiper and Steve Young think he is. Perhaps he isn't. College career isn't an accurate guide.

4. You're right.
No one in their right mind would give up their team's 2nd-4th round picks to pick a project at QB. The Broncos have basically traded Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall for Tim Tebow and DeMaryius Thomas. Yep, they have some real geniuses in Denver.

5. ITA. And after dealing with an assholes like Cutler and Marshall
I'll just be happy to have somebody who shows up to play and practice when he's supposed to.

12. A team that actually shows up has better odds than one that does not.
I'm glad we got rid of both those jerks.

10. I do. I have a problem with Focus on the Family mouthpieces.
Generally I ignore political affiliation but Tebow stands for everything I LOATHE politically and he shoves his views down everyone's throat. I hate to say it but if he destroyed his knee tomorrow I would not shed a tear.

9. Florida QBs never make it.
Can anyone name a single University of Florida QB that went on to have a stellar pro career? This was a foolish pick, particularly since they could have gotten this guy much later.

13. So you're down with a sizable chunk of his huge salary
going to support churches that promote misogyny and homophobia? Or using his "bully pulpit" like fellow wingnut Kurt Warner has -- to oppose stem cell research?

16. Minimum *guaranteed* salary for a first rounder is $20 million
What GM is going to pay $20 million for something 3 years down the road?
