"(Donovan McNabb) is the guy in the house, while everybody else is on the field."
http://articles.philly.com/2011-05-11/sports/29532616_1_rich-burg-bernard-hopkins-donovan-mcnabb

Just days before a title bout that could eclipse the miracles of George Foreman, ageless phenomenon Bernard Hopkins addressed what really matters: Questioning former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb's blackness and mettle.

According to Hopkins, McNabb had a privileged childhood in suburban Chicago and, as a result, is not black enough or tough enough, at least compared with, say, himself, Michael Vick and Terrell Owens. "Forget this," Hopkins said, pointing to his own dark skin. "He's got a suntan. That's all."

Hopkins also implied that, while Vick and Owens remained true to their roots, McNabb did not, and that McNabb was rudely awakened when the Eagles traded him to the Redskins last year.

"Why do you think McNabb felt he was betrayed? Because McNabb is the guy in the house, while everybody else is on the field. He's the one who got the extra coat. The extra servings. 'You're our boy,' " Hopkins said, patting a reporter on the back in illustration. "He thought he was one of them."

4. There is way more class-ism between black people than most whites...
are aware.

This is not a new thing. See my post below yours.

The racial tensions between Hispanics and Blacks will be our next huge social issue and will make inner-city gang problems seem like Sunday School.

3. There is a good bit of class-ism out there.
Always has been

I was raised by Old Nancy, whose grandparents worked for my family before, during and after the War Between the States. I remember her remarking about some distant relative who was doing some tractor work for us, "Don't pay him no attention, he just a big-footed country n____r who too dumb to come in out the rain".

It's been that way for a long, long time.

5. Wasn't McNabb the one Rush Limbaugh went after also and lost
his job on the ESPN as a result? Don't know any of these people, but I think McNabb was the one Limbaugh said some racist things about also.

October 1, 2003

Donovan McNabb has been to three straight Pro Bowls and two consecutive NFC championship games, and was runner-up for NFL MVP in his first full season as a starter.

Still, commentator Rush Limbaugh saw fit to question the quarterback's credentials.

Before McNabb led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 23-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Limbaugh said on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" that McNabb is overrated. However, Limbaugh injected his comment with racial overtones that have set off a controversy.

"Sorry to say this, I don't think he's been that good from the get-go," Limbaugh said. "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

8. Always liked McNabb.
Great player, great attitude. Never understood the extreme criticism he takes.

10. Hopkins isn't black enough, either. But he is green enough.
I guess his idea of doing "black" things is serving jail time for nine felonies...
