Superbowl Prediction: N.E. vs. Philly
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 06:32 PM by Yavin4
Sorry, Steeler Nation, but the clock will strike midnight on Ben at the AFC Championship. Yes, you did blow out the Pats during the regular season, but that was without their RB Corey Dillon. The Pats will be healed and ready to play.

T.O. will be back for the SB, but it won't make a difference. N.E. won't have to rely on a FG to win it this time. They'll blow out the Eagles. Final Score: N.E. 44 Philly 14.

4. No way in hell the Colts get by either Pats or Steelers
They have shown they can't beat the best and that will keep up. It's a "D" thing.

8. Steelers are the Atlanta Braves of football
Win their conference every year, but fail to capitalize when it counts.
I give Cower all the credit he deserves, but, in medern times, losing the campionship game, at home, 4 times is not good. they will lose again.

Pats/Eagles.
"cause nobody in the NFC will beat the Eagles.

They do now, and that's a big difference.

17. Patriots' experience still in play
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 02:07 AM by mvd
Maybe Rothlesberger will win it all next year, after the Eagles do this year hopefully. Eagles do best when underdogs it seems.

But I do dislike the Steelers and hope they go out quickly, so we'll see if it's bias talking. The neat thing is that none of is wrong yet!

9. The Packers have won 7 out of their last 9
We; oops, I mean the Pack have #4 and can never be counted out. The defense is not good, but stranger things have happened. We, er, the Pack destroyed the Bears today, 31-14. Never ever count out my Pack. Brett Favre wants it badly.

10. I called this one before the season started
and made a bunny suit/tequila bet on it. Two reasons, now, why I'm not too sure anymore:

1. T.O. Philly fans can talk this one down all the like. The season hangs on those two letters. Owens came in and became the alpha dog, gave Philly that swagger, and covered up the fact that most of the remaining receiving corps appear to be paralyzed from the wrists down. The alpha dog is hurt now, the swagger is deflated, and the light is right on the Steel Fist Receiving Cadre.

2. Ty Law and the Pats secondary are both broken and smashed. Law might be back for the later playoffs, but a lot of those guys are gone for good. Troy Brown has been playing both ways, and as incredible as his skills are, offensive coordinators are targeting him now and having success. The Pats won so much in the last two years because we took away the passing game and scored a lot of points off interceptions. That isn't the situation anymore, and good teams can score on us now.

I still think both teams are the best in their leagues. Probably it will be them. But Philly has to get by Atlanta and Green Bay, and the Pats still have Pittsburg and Indy on the menu. None of those games are gimmes.

27. thank you. I give a slight edge to the pats, because of experience
. but it's real slight, indy has a awsome offense, but defense is lacking. steelers just might be able to slide by the pats this year.

philly, is a big question mark now without t.o. I think coach made a mistake by not playing his regulars the last two games. I think they needed that to get some type of rythem going. everybody needs to remember t.o., has all of the receiving touchdowns except for 1. that sounds like bad news to me.

I would think that green bay now has a slight edge to get to the SB.

my prediction is green bay/steelers.

28. Eagles still have Kearse and Westbrook
So they still have weapons. I think they'll be able to work players into the offense to make up for the TDs. McNabb is healthy this time, too.

I don't think Green Bay can beat the Eagles at home. We'll see, though. I've stated my prediction - now on to the playoffs!

Probably to the Packers. But they will lose. And after the crap they pulled after their last game with the Giants, I will be praying they lose early! Friggin' thugs.

They'll be getting there this year. It's the Super Bowl itself I'm worried about.

I say New England/Philly because New England probably won't lose twice to the Steelers.

21. Obvious late hits on Eli Manning the last time the Giants played them...
...and then acting as if it was their divine right to pull such shit...yeah, they're thugs, and they've always been thugs. I sort of felt bad for their fans the last few years when they've lost in the NFC Championship Game, but this year they've reminded me why I never cherr for them!

23. No, they are not known as being thugs
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 11:58 AM by mvd
I can tell you that for sure. Andy Reid teams do not play that way. I've seen many teams do SOME dirty things. In fact, Eagles have had pretty cheap shots on them that resulted in injuries to their own players. Like the McNabb hit that made him miss games and left him not very sharp in the playoffs.

Sometimes being a fan of a certain team where you thought there was a bad hit against you leads to overgeneralization.

During the Buddy Ryan years, they were kind of thuggish - but they had tons of passion and it was hard not to like them.

32. I wish I could recall who made the late hit on Manning--he was out of
bounds when it happened--it was really obvious. Then the guy had the gall to boast about it. Maybe the team isn't thuggish, but that guy is--he'd be a thug no matter who he played for.

This is from a FORMER Giants fan--I'm boycotting them this year ebcause I'm so pissed they took Manning, and the way the whole Manning clan acted during the draft. Still, the kid didn't deserve the hit--no one does.

Sorry Pats fans. Your team has run into a juggernaut that's just a tad too much for you this year.

I don't think it matters who comes out of the NFC. The Eagles might have fought hard, if healthy. Alas, only Atlanta has a chance at 'em now. The other four are going nowhere fast. And, yes, I am a Packers fan, but I know where my team sits.

Corey Dillon being out had nothing to do with Pittsburgh rolling for 250 rushing yards.

Steelers - Packers.

That would be overconfident. They didn't play like they didn't care about losing like the Eagles did. Now we'll see if the Eagles did the right thing.

It was incredibly impressive, IMO. That was their second string out there. They're going to be awfully tough to beat.

It was the Steelers 3rd string, practice squad QB and 4th string RB that won the game.

30. The Orange Crush will loom over the AFC and take the SB
They would have the best record in the league if it wasn't for so many key turnovers. They will have that taken care of for the playoffs.

31. Falcons/Patriots
Do you remember what Vick did last time he was in the playoffs?

Well this time he's got a team (and a fucking defense) around him. Beware the Falcons...

And the Patriots are just too good to lose. Sorry, but Big Ben's "poise" won't hold up for shit in the playoffs, especially against playoff-tested Tom Brady.

35. The Pats just aren't the team they were last year.
Everyone holds onto the NE defense being the toughest, but it's really not - look what Miami did! My Bengals put up 478 yards of offense on the Pats' D, AT New England, and if it weren't for 2 redzone turnovers, Bengals had it. My point here is that if the Bengals O can do it, the Colts O DEFINITELY can. That Week 1 meeting was a close game, but so very long ago. Plus, NE's DBs can't rape the Colts receivers like they did in last year's playoffs. If you ask me, the NE run defense is a fairly weak spot that the Colts can attack, which will set up the play action. Game over. Colts 34, Pats 24.

36. I favor the Pats by 3 in this scenario.
They will not blow the Eagles out but I think it will be tough for the Birds to win outright without T.O.. If Owens is back the Eagles win 30-24.
