Who thinks Michigan got hosed?
in The Alamo Bowl, I mean. On that last play, should have been illegal participation by both clubs. Hence, should have been offsetting penalties and one more down.

About the non call on pass interference-looked clean to me.

3. Was it on fourth down?
I went to bed in the 3rd quarter (I just KNEW it would be a close game dammit) and it was on when I woke up this morning (replay). I had the sound down so as not to wake up the baby so I didn't hear the explanation but I figured it had something to do with advancing a fumble in the last two minutes or something like that.

5. It was NOT fourth down. I think it was second down.
Moreover, the officals wasted 10 seconds "spotting" the ball for Nebraska prior to the punt, after robbing Michigan of two time outs.

8. Even The NFL Has A "Can't Advance Fumble" Rule, Don't They?
Because of the Raiders, i think.

but I am not sure about the NCAA other than on fourth down (due to my research) as posted above.

11. This was 2nd down, so the rule doesn't apply.
I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm just pointing out it was 2nd down...

4. The non-call on the pass interfrerence - terrible call
replay clearly showed the Nebraska player grabbed the receiver's left arm.

What about Michigan needing to burn two timeouts to get replays? Nebraska got a replay for free. Then the officials spotted the ball on the wrong hash for the field goal.

It was the worst officiating I've seen against Michigan, and I've seen plenty.

6. I agree about the timeout business.
That was a travesty of justice. I disagree about the interference.

7. Ah, well, perhaps you didn't see the replay from the back of the endzone
We all sat and watched it - he grabbed the Michigan receiver's (I think it was Avant's) arm and then threw his own arms up in the air as if he had not touched him. It was not clear from the front angle. From the back, it was completely obvious.

10. Here's the video from ESPN
http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/motion/echo/index?id=2274158&category=Top%20Videos

Do we know if the Nebraska players who made the tackle (#21 and #1) were even supposed to be on the field? They could have come off the bench and run across the field and made the play.

The biggest disgrace is that NOT ONE official threw a single flag. Look at the video at the 1:49-1:53 mark. The entire Nebraska team is not only on the field, but physically occupying half of it. Not one flag. Truly amazing. The referees should have to give back their game checks.

12. I do
On every level. I've never seen such poor officiating in my life. I've already e-mailed the Sunbelt Conference and the Alamo Bowl. I probably shouldn't have done it at midnight on my laptop because I don't use that keyboard as much and there are some typos but I was MAD.

I'm a Michigan fan, yes, but although I'm not happy when we lose, it's okay if we lose a clean game. This wasn't. Those Sunbelt officials clearly were not up to the job. Even the announcers were outraged. How do you not call that play pass interference? Our 8 year old twins could officiate better than that.

My mother thinks that people have a thing against Michigan. I'm beginning to think she's right.

15. At least some of them are fair
Interestingly, the time out issue seems to be the one most fans (on both sides) and observers think was the most unfair part of the whole deal.

to lose a game like that. I wanted to see Mich get beat, but not that way. They got screwed over

14. The officiating for that game was a DISGRACE
Bad call after bad call affecting both teams. As much as I hate MEEchigan, they really got screwed over by the officials in the last few minutes of that game.

Honestly, that was the ABSOLUTE WORST job of officiating I have EVER seen in a college football game. Is that the best the NCAA has to offer??

BTW, GO BUCKEYES! (And I hope to hell you don't get the same officiating crew!)

17. I agree. Next time, get major conference officials!
The Sun Belt is a nice little conference, but their officials aren't used to the speed of major conference athletes. Also, the Sun Belt doesn't have replay, so Michigan had to burn timeouts to make sure plays got reviewed. That might have been the worst officiated game I've seen in some time. Just awful.

20. OOooh
ouch

I am a Buckeye fan but aside from that I am amazed at how people who root for one of the huge programs can think they repeatedly get hosed by the refs. I know that announcers don't determine anything on the field but they do reflect the general sentiment on things (often) and ABC is all UM all the time. BIG HOUSE BIG HOUSE BIG HOUSE and so forth.

To think that UM doesn't get any calls ever is, to say the least, naive.

25. i think that's pretty silly too
i'm an oklahoma fan, and i'm always a little embarassed by how many of my fellow sooners think the refs and the announcers are out to get them. But it does seem to be a consistent response from fans of pretty much any big program ...

21. Michigan rarely gets good calls...
Let's see, phantom touchdown in 1979 Rose Bowl? Desmond Howard being tackled in the end zone before getting a chance to catch a two point conversion against Michigan State and no flag? Spartan Bob and his loooooonnnngggg second and no call?

And ABC is all UM? Has anyone ever listened to Brent Musberger? I'm surprised he didn't marry Jeff Smoker.

22. Going further back
The Harry Oliver game at Notre Dame('78?). ND receiver catching the ball 4 feet out of bounds, ruled complete and kept the Irish alive.

I remember Ufer's torturred comment,"The ghost of Fielding Yost is turning over in his grave!"

26. Plus Musberger started that "Big House" crap
Michigan Stadium was never called the Big House until Musberger started calling it that. I cringe every time I hear that term, or see it on a T-shirt.

the official rule is to not play another down if there is 0:00 on the clock and offsetting penalties.
