Well, at least we lost to Mexico.
That was better than anybody else outside of Japan.

Make a note: Baseball is not the exclusive domain of the United States anymore.

I am happy. This is the greatest sport.

2. Should be, World Series and not the World baseball classic
Even with the helpful umpiring of Bob Davidson, the US lost against Mexico last night
in the World baseball classic.

------------------------------
A television replay showed Valenzuela's fly ball hit the right field foul pole at least 10 feet off the ground and bounced back onto the field. However, first base umpire Bob Davidson didn't see it that way, and Valenzuela wound up at second.

It was Davidson, umpiring behind the plate, who ruled that Japan's Tsuyoshi Nishioka left third base early in the eighth inning Sunday to negate a sacrifice fly that would have snapped a 3-3 tie in a game Team USA won.

------------------------------

THIS should actually be called the World Series and not the World baseball classic.

3. This SHOULD NOT be called the World Series
That's like playing the Super Bowl in August.

Something like this should be played at the end of the season. It takes several weeks of practice and playing for a baseball player to be at his peak. For many players, it takes months. Many of the American players had very little competition prior to this.

Another gripe; Baseball is like a marathon. You play 162 games and then you play 7-games playoffs to determine the champion. The US played only 3 games. What if they used that format for the 2004 World Series? Boston would not be the world champs.

This whole idea is a damn joke!
