Huh? Fassel meets with Snyder again to talk opening
Jim Fassel, the last coach to take the New York Giants to a Super Bowl, had a second interview with Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder on Tuesday, a source close to the situation told ESPN.

Fassel appears to be emerging as a serious candidate to replace Joe Gibbs as Redskins head coach. He could be considered for the offensive coordinator's job, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen, although Snyder and Fassel did not discuss that possibility Tuesday.

Fassel was a finalist for the Redskins job in 2004 until Gibbs came out of retirement to replace Steve Spurrier. Snyder and vice president of player personnel Vinny Cerrato traveled cross-country on Christmas Eve in 2003 to conduct a two-day interview with Fassel, who had been fired as the Giants coach.

Gibbs resigned two weeks ago, and Snyder has interviewed five potential successors: Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks, Seattle Seahawks defensive backs coach Jim Mora, Redskins assistant Gregg Williams and Fassel.

Seriously..this is a :wtf: to me. Fassel hasn't even been successful in his last couple of stints as offensive coordinator and you are seriously considering him as a head coach? Geezus, Snyder just give the job to Gregg Williams and be done with it.
But of course, he's not YOUR guy is he--he's Joe's guy and now that Joe's gone...
God, I hate Danny Boy Snyder. Really.

1. Huh?
Fassel got canned by Brian Billick and replace by Brian Billick for coaching the Ravens offence!

:wtf:

Don't you wish you had an owner like Jerry Jones?

BTW: Brian Billick is available. :hide:

2. I heard this on the news tonight
"As a season ticket holder if Snyder does NOT hire Gregg Williams...I am giving up my tickets"....
GRRRRRRRR!! My feelings too.
Jerry Jones actually seems slightly better than Danny Boy at this point....
As for Brian Billick...This city is not big enough to encompass the egos of Snyder and Billick.....

3. Fassel had one good run with the Giants in 2000,
but basically sucked as a coach. Underachievers.

But then again as a Cowboys fan, it does interest me to see Snyder royally fucking up his team. (sorry).

I did mention to a few friends at work that Billick is available and the looks on their faces were like :wtf: are you talking about. And then they were thinking "Oh shit! Snyder might just do something like that".

JJ has at least assembled three SB championship teams, with a wee bit of help from Herchel Walker and the Minnesota Vikings!

5. His Giants teams
were not very talented. Winning the division in 97 was one of the best coaching jobs I've ever seen. He's a much better coach than he's been portrayed.

7. Fassel was underrated
Very good offensive strategist when his personnel was decent. Nice mixture of plenty of running and an aggressive downfield passing game. Plus he's got a presence on the sideline, unlike Gregg Williams who was a baffled joke in Buffalo.

4. Not only no, but hell no.
I agree, they need to hire Gregg Williams and keep Al Saunders to maintain some sort of continuity.

9. Question for Giant fans:
Who did Fassel replace as Giants head coach? Drawing a blank here.

10. Dan Reeves
Reeves had one good year for the Giants, one decent, and two awful seasons.

13. Parcells had pretty much run his course in NY, and with all of the core
players at the end of their careers, Handley was not left much to work with, as i recall.

Plus he had no control over the club either.

14. Hey...now there's an idea!
Do you think Snyder will bring him in for an interview too?
What part of stability and continuity is a GOOD thing does Snyder NOT understand.:banghead:
