MANCHESTER UNITED WINS!!!!
OK, I figured I'd add to the all caps winners threads. Man U. won the Champions League 6-5 on penalty kicks. It was a great game. The big Chelsea star Drogba pulled a Zidane and slapped an opponent in the 116th minute. He was sent off. Of course, he is one of their biggest players and it was a major loss. He never got to take a penalty kick and Chelsea only lost by 1.

1. I'm just glad I'm not surrounded by gloating Man U fans at present.
At least the FA Cup final was between teams with proper supporters as opposed to the prawn sandwich brigade.

11. Hey now!
I've never had a prawn sandwich. Nor do I drive a Chelsea tractor.

GO Man U!

3. Man U was extremely lucky
Chelsea was the better side from about the 30th minute on. They always looked like the most likely to score, hit the woodwork twice.

John Terry had a chance to make Chelsea history and he choked. It has to be one of the biggest choke jobs in sport's history, even bigger that Buckner's ground ball. Man U didn't win the CL Final, it was given to them.

4. Well, they wouldn't have gone to KFTPM had Terry not made that great save with his head in ET.

5. Doesn't change a thing
A true Chelsea legend, as John Terry is purported to be, would have made the save AND converted the PK. Excuses don't cut it, Terry's miss will go down in sport's lore as one of the biggest chokes in history. I'm an Arsenal supporter, a neutral observer, and I just don't see how you can look at Terry's miss any other way.

6. no, Baggio was the biggest choke in soccer history
Terry was never a stone cold striker, he's a defender, after all. when's the last time he took a penalty?

8. Terry's miss on that horrendous field is nothing to be ashamed of
He's a defender for Christ's sakes. He planted his foot in the turf and it came out from under him. That is not a choke. Baggio, as has been mentioned, was a choke. This was bad luck, especially since he had the keeper going in totally the opposite direction.

On a related note, it's wonderful to see Avram Grant fired at Chelski. The loss is entirely his fault. Had Jose still been the coach, John Terry's kick would have gone right into the net because Jose would have found a way to keep the turf dry under Terry's foot. Maybe Abramovich should have padded the field with stacks of £ notes.

10. You could blame the loss on Grant
if you want, he should have substituted Shevchenko instead of Anelka after Drogba got red carded. For that matter, you could blame the loss on Drogba because had he not been red carded he would surely have been one of the first five PK takers. Sure, the blame will go around...anyone but the U.K.'s and Chelsea's lily white hero, John Terry.

Oh, I'm sure excuses will continue to be made i.e. he's a defender, he slipped etc. However the fact remains, if Terry didn't feel enough confidence to take the biggest kick in Chelsea history, he should never have stepped up there. John Terry choked and history will justly remember him so.

13. I lost 10 quid on the game
I put my money on Chelsea 2-1. The odds were 12:1 so I was looking at a nice payout for a short while during the second half when Chelsea was working Man U, unfortunately Van de Sar (one of my favorite players actually) just wouldn't let them score a goal.

Oh well. In a few more days the Euro Cup starts and I can begin to root for the Netherlands against the French, Italians, and Romanians... ugh we got a terrible grouping.

Also, Man Utd. won the game 1-1 with a 6-5 PK split, just a bit of a correction.
