Note to self: If you're going to seek revenge, never
rely on a team from the District to help you.

1. OUCH!!!!
I think Pittsburgh put too much weight on the Hossa deal last season. He was a big component of that team last year. In the same breath they gave up some decent players that filled some big rolls for them in that deal as well.

Should be interesting if they sign Gaborick or the Sedins in the offseason.

2. I'm just pained because the two OT goals were practical own goals.
It sucks to lose in OT, it sucks worse to lose when the puck goes off your own guy, twice. You make your own luck though, the Pens are good team and the Caps have looked deadlegged in certain parts of the series. It's not over yet but Pittsburgh is getting the bounces and the better of the play.

Carolina is the big surprise to me.

3. Yea, I've been watching the OT goal on youtube. Unreal.
I guess I'm surprised by Carolina, but just like Anaheim, it wasn't so long ago that they won it all.

4. Yeah the Ducks took the old time North Stars approach to the season.
Just do enough to get there and then go crazy in the playoffs. The Minnesota North Stars were famous for being regular season dogs and then sneaking up in the playoffs and knocking off "better" teams.

5. There does seem to be a pattern.
However, the Caps may be capable of breaking it but game 5 went the way of the pattern.

6. Yeah like no team from DC ever won anything
DC united Washington FreedomSkins, Senators and Bullets not withstanding. And of course none of the college teams around here ever won anything:eyes: and of course we know that the Caps lost to the rangers 3-1 oh wait? Nor did they lose in the first round to an eight seed. Caps---still a billion times better than the Sharks

7. "better than the Sharks"....I don't think so
sure they've gone farther in the playoffs this year, but the Caps joined the league in 1974... with no Stanley Cup yet to show for it. The Sharks weren't even founded until 1991, meaning that they have to go 17 more years without a title to reach the Caps current level of frustration.

BTW, what in the heck are "FreedomSkins"?....are those like "Freedom fries"?

9. It's a real shame that the Nats got a park but DCU is still homeless.
Some seriously poor decision making there.
