Dwight Howard- I don't get it
I recently started watching the NBA again after a long hiatus. I originally started watching in 1964 and watched continually through the jordan era. I lost much of my enthusiasm because I think it became a chuckfest. I watched Howard through the boston series and I don't get why he is all NBA. He has no low post presence. He doesn't possess a drop step, his jumper is pathetic and his hook shot is pitiful. He can jump and put back missed shots but when you compare him to duncan, O'neill, Olajuwan, Jabbar and any number of great centers he stinks.

all those deficiencies.

2. The only reason he looked good against the Celtics, was that
all the Celtic's big men were out. KG would have shut him down cold.

3.  I agree. But, he did lead the league in rebounds and blocks
He was the best center this season, but it was a very down year for centers.

6. One of the most important stats in B-Ball is rebounds---
Edited on Wed May-20-09 12:11 PM by trumad
and the guy is the best rebounder in B-Ball.

Also: 21 points per game in 2008-09 is an excellent stat.

Me say's you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

7. rebounds are important
but if you play basketball setting the post and scoring from the post sets up your offense. Theoretically, it doesn't have to be the center as two examples of that are Kevin Mchale and Adrian Dantley. However to be the NBA all pro you would think Howard would possess the ability to center the offense around him and he doesn't.

15. He is the best center in the league, but
this era of basketball has no great centers. The last one was Shaq, and surprisingly Dwight is even less talented than Shaq who could have probably scored 40 points a game if he could hit free throws and develop a base line jumper.

It's all about guards nowadays, unlike the 90's (Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq).
