Arnold is balancing his budget on the backs of our youth.

My kid is not going to be thrilled to learn that half of his "tax advance" will be going to increased fees at Chico State for his classes next fall

(05-14) 10:10 PDT LONG BEACH -- A California State University Board of Trustees committee voted this morning to increase student fees by 10 percent this fall to help make up for expected funding cuts from the state.

..

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed cutting the system's budget by 10 percent in his initial spending plan in January. The governor's revised funding recommendation will be released later today, after which it will go to the Legislature.

.

"The fee revenue is a specific tax on students," Garamendi said. "What we are doing is substituting a tax on the general wealth of California for a tax on students. You are taxing the future of California."

Later today, a committee of the UC Board of Regents is expected to vote to increase fees at the 10-campus system by 7.4 percent for the fall. The $490 annual increase would then go to the full board Thursday.

1. It's kind of crazy
CA is balancing its budget on the backs of college students. Mr. Laurel is going to law school in the fall, and when looking around, he discovered that to attend a UC school as an out-of-state student would cost more than attending Harvard.

2. wouldn't you like living in CA first for a year just to get residency? sure beats the higher fees
despite what some may say, CA is a great place to live

3. We ended up somewhere else
Where it was more likely I could find a job and that was closer to my family.
